Moving the thread from the old board to here since the admins seem incapable of moving the old threads.

I just acquired this Detective 39 from May 1940. Not the greatest of condition but it's intact.

Updated. I can't keep doing this, as books seem to become geometrically more expensive the earlier they are.

Anyways, from Feb. 1940, Marvel Mystery #4.

This book isn't a comic so it doesn't quite qualify as my oldest book, but it's nevertheless a neat item.

From June 1936, Weird Tales vol. 27 #6, with a great Margaret Brundage vampire cover.

What's goin' on with her foot? If she's kicking his shin, I say "Good for you girl!"

speedy - I don't know what the deal is with her foot.  It looks to me that the original painting got smeared when it went in to be made into a cover.

e - That's the first cover with Namor (and also is the second cover with a swastika).

That Marvel Mystery Comics #4 is absolutely beautiful. That must've made quite a dent in your bank account.
