| Hmmm...bears further research...We'll look into it. But remember...just because one person was willing to pay anything to get it off Ebay, doesn't necessarily mean it's worth that... ...we'll see if it's a trend...

The seller has been selling all of the early issues....starting around number 7 or 8. The number 3 and 4 for sold for MORE than 300, and numbers 5, 6, and 7 all broke the 200 mark.

| I don't think you will be seeing any rise in these issues. This person is probably just anxious to complete their collection. Jesse James

| It takes 2 people to drive the price up, not one. Issue number 1 is up right now and with 6 days to go still, it has over 20 bids and is almost up to 400. It is graded at 6.0 by PGX. Yes I know these comics wouldn't command this price at a show or at a shop, but that is only because of the very very limited exposure it gets. But ebay opens the door to exposure and that's when real value can really shine on rare items. Isn't the value of something determined by how much someone is willing to pay for it???? If every early Dennis the Menace comic sells on ebay for WELL over book price, then I think book price is wrong. If you had Action Comics number 1, and you put up for half a million on a comic shop, who is gonna come along and have the money to buy it??? You would put it on ebay to find the buyer. Then it's true value can be recognized. On the other side of the fence, if you have Spawn number 1, and book value says it's.....10 bucks...but you can buy them on ebay for 3.00 plus 2 dollars shipping, then I'd argue that it's value is 5 dollars. How can something be worth 10 dollars if you can buy it any day of the week for 5??? I don't know what Spawn number 1 books at, or sells on ebay for, it was strictly an example, same with Action Comics number 1. Just extreme examples. That is why I only use price GUIDES for issues that are not regularly on ebay. I use completed auctions as my more accurate price guide for all silver age and newer comics. That's my thoughts on it.

| Well, number 1, graded at a 6.0 by PGX sold for 1225. That's the price I would have expected a 9.0 to sell for.....but I have noticed all early Dennis issues going much higher that guide price when sold on ebay. I find it funny how a graded comic can sell for so much more than a non graded comic in the same condition. I know the cost of grading is probably a factor, but not enough of one.

batfan (9/13/2008) didn't a 9.6 copy of #1 sell at heritage for a huge amount? If it did, I missed it. I thought I checked the CGC census and the highest was like a 7.0 or something......I could be wrong though. Mine is probably a 5.0 if I had to guess.
