Whatever is current, will always be considered the "Modern Age"...If the time period is what you are talking about, then I'm sure someone will assess a label to the current era. With all the foil variants, who knows, maybe the aluminum age...

With all due respect to Wolfie, how about the "transparent aluminum" age. With a wink and a nod to ST3.

Where does he get those wonderful toys!

I have yet begun to surrender.

That's a good question... I guess it would be up to the price guides (i.e. OS, maybe here) to define a new age??? It annoys me to no end that books 20+ years old are considered current age...

Aren't the ages something along the lines of...

Platinum - (Pre-Action Comics superhero Stuff)

Golden - (Pick your own start date - 1949)

Silver- (In my Mind 1950 - 1969)

Bronze - (In my mind 1970 - 1989)

Modern - (1990 - Current)

Meaning We have about 2 years to go until we need a new age, and all the books from 1990-2009 are reclassified into their own era.  This is just my own personal opinion but by this standard every 20 years would be considered a new age, and we'd just need to identify the most logical element to follow Bronze... in my head I was thinking Iron, but that doesn't sound quite right.  Any (Serious) suggestions?

Personally, I'd break it down more by events, like so:

Platinum Age -- 1901 to Action Comics #1

Golden Age -- AC1 to Seduction of the Innocent/Comics Code

Silver Age -- SotI/Code to 1969 (Can't think of directly comics-related example at the moment, but real-world maybe Woodstock or the Moon landing.)

Bronze Age -- (1970) to Crisis on Infinite Earths or Secret Wars II

Copper Age -- CoIE/SWII to Death of Superman

"Modern" Age -- DoS to now

(And as for what to call this age once some significant event marks the transition, and given the popularity of foil covers, and the "conspicuous consumption" element of multiple variant covers -- I'd be in favor of calling it the Gilded Age...

Also, we could add the Victorian Age, and for any "comics" found older than Queen Vic's reign, maybe the Stone Age?

(edited to add Platinum and the note about Victorian & Stone Ages...)
