| I find that method more interesting than traditional comic retcons. At some point, the stories and strips lose something as the characters get older. I think that's one of the problems with even trying to 'age' the characters. If you look at some of the 'classic' strips, like Peanuts, Garfield, Family Circus, etc, the artists haven't tried to create a 'universe' for their characters to grow in....they simply tell a new story every time. That even works on TV...look how well the Simpsons has done without 'aging' the characters. Another strip I have become disappointed in is Funky Winkerbean.....that is one I used to enjoy as a child, but it has become tired and lifeless as the characters have grown up. Anyway, I think it's a good idea.......and probably something that others should do with their strips.... Thanks for the article, Shadow....shows that 'comic books' aren't the only ones that have to do restarts every once in a while.

Her art has gained a more refined look. Great brushwork now. The older stuff has a feel of experimentation to it. It is a neat way to keep in the paper using older stuff mixed with newer. I, as a cartoonist trying to break into a diminishing market, feel a sort of resentment. Give the rest of us a break and shut down the strips that are not new.

| VERY Interesting! That is a new one to me! But then again, ever since I found http://www.comics.com and I don't get a newspaper on a regular basis anymore!.(about 10 years now!) I stick to just about reading the ONLY comic strip that entertains me anymore "Get Fuzzy". But kudos to her for doing something different within the media! Change is good! -FBTA

I think she's gone to just using reprints entirely, now. She said a goodbye a week or two back.
