The Fuj (8/16/2008) The only game i try to beat is Final Fantasy games... as quick as possible.
Then I go back 6 months later and try to get the extra stuff.
Exact opposite for me, they take me forever because I try to do or get all the extra stuff the first time around. I'm going to be so lost when I go back to 12.

Then I hope you played Eternal Sonata with a walk through for the trading quest as it's VERY easy to miss one thing :/

Now there are some games that I just CAN'T beat; for instance, the original Mega Man. I can get to the final boss but can never beat him. With those kind of games I have to admit either I can't beat it, or the effort and time to beat it is greater than my desire to finish it.
Of course, being the awesome gamer that I am, those type of games are few and far between.

There was a Contra game for the PS2 that was ridiculously insane (don't remember the name) that it took forever for me and a friend doing co-op to move through any level. We finally gave up and retired the game never to be played again.

Good God, multiple times. The only games I have not finished or even tried to finish are Jericho and Halo 2 for the PC, neither of them held my interest enough to keep playing them. Maybe one day. It took almost a year for me to get interested enough in Resident Evil 4 to finish it but that had more to do with crappy controls than playability.
I also like games that you really never finish, such as real-time strategy games that you play again and again different each time. Civilization is the biggest that comes to mind.
Where does he get those wonderful toys!
I have yet begun to surrender.

Civ III owned my life for about 6 months; I'd play it on my Macbook and had a long-standing rivalry with the Chinese (I'd always pick Babylon but rename it Tibet).

I've still haven't played it yet (I have had it since launch), but I got my daughter into playing it for a bit as she loved Civ II. RTS games always win out over Civ when I get on the computer.

Games that have a story that you continue throughout, like MGS, or adventure games I will try to play through to completion. Games like say Gran Turismo, where you are trying to unlock things through hours of playthrough, no thank you.
