This web site has the Uzamaki series for $6 per volume, as opposed to the $10 retial price. since you're not into manga that much you may just want to start witht he first one and see if it's something you like or not.

ZombiesAteMyBrain,

I just read the 1st seven issues of Preacher! You were not lying! This is one of the most interesting and funny reads I have enjoyed in my adult life of reading comics. It is not only well written, but is is very funny. The irreverence makes me wince at times, but I gave it a chance and now I am hooked. I am going to buy these and read them until the very end. I would never even have picked this up if you hadn't suggested it...I had heard good things, but I figured it wasn't my cup of tea. I was wrong. Thank you.

No problem. For me, that's what comics are all about, the stories. I know for some it's the "collecting"(no that there's anything wrong with that ),but I mainly just enjoy reading good books and trying to turn others on to good books.

ZombiesAteMyBrain,

What did you think of Crossed #1? It was quite shocking to me. I have never seen anything like that double rape scene (with a side of child murder). It was quite disturbing, quite possibly the most disturbing scene that I've ever witnessed in comics. It seems like it is going to be an interesting ride, but you know that I am still a novice when it comes to this genre. Do you think that it'll become as good a title as "Walking Dead"? Do you think that Ennis is depending on too much on the shock factor and not developing the story enough? I want to see where this is going.

My LCS sold out before I got there so I'm going to have to hit my back-up store to get it. I'll let you know what I thought as soon as I get it.

Finally got to read it last night. Pretty standard, but solid, "End of the world" type story telling for the first 18 or so pages, but you're right, that ending was pretty gruesome. I think what did it for me was what the wife was saying to the guy while it was happening.

A lot of people don't like Ennis because some of his stuff seems to be done purely for the shock value, because it takes away from the point of the story, but in this case at least, I think the shock value IS the point of the story.

Did you see the ad at the end for that "Fallen Angels" web-comic by Ennis?I haven't checked it out yet but I will soon.

  ZombiesAteMyBrain,

I did not even notice the ad for "Fallen Angels". I guess that I was still in shock from reading the comic. I will check that out when I get the chance.

Yes siree...that rape scene was unexpected and shocking...I mean I looked at it for about 2 minutes with my jaw hanging limply. I just couldn't believe that this scene had actually made it into comics without some watch dog group crying "foul!". The writing seemed tight to me, the characters are developing quite nicely...that is to say that I have already picked out ones that I like and dislike. And crazy, homicidal, sex maniacs would scare me more than lumbering zombies, so this story actually works for me. I know that I don't know much about the horror genre, but I have read the "Walking Dead" comics and I like this just as much so far.

ZombiesAteMyBrain,

I haven't heard from you in a while my friend. How are you doing? Are you still reading Crossed? I am. I think that the story is coming along well...did you see that scene where people were just freaking falling out of the air? Sick. The only problem for me is that I never know when I am going to get the next issue of Crossed. The story ends so abruptly, that I'm seething for the next month's chapter, but I never get it the next month. Does Ennis do this often, or is this the way it is supposed to be?

Anyways, what stuff are you reading? Anything that I should check out? Thanks for hooking me up with all these good reads.
