ZombiesAteMyBrain (8/23/2008)
No problem, glad you liked it. Now, you have read Preacher, right?

ZombiesAteMyBrain,

I'll start looking for it on Monday. Zombies vs. Robots has not come in yet, and I just bought Zombies vs. Robots vs. Amazons. As they come in I will read them and give the full report. I think I made a bogus purchase. I bought a set of comics called Cursed by Top Cow/Image. You suggested Tag, and Tag:Cursed, so I think I screwed that one up. I will read them anyway. I have had no luck locating City of Others. If normal channels do not work, I will hit ebay. I'll search again on Monday.

I have heard of Preacher, it has quite a following I think. I think I will start buying that series ASAP. I cannot believe that I am actually reading horror comics and liking them. Thanks ZombieAteMyBrain.

Picked up the first 2 issues of Dead, She Said based on what I read here and thought it was pretty good.  Looking forward to the last issue.  Too bad it's only 3 issues, I'd like to see more of the dead detective.

by1968,

Welcome to the post! I have to agree with you. Dead She Said is a great read. I still have not figured out what that name reminds me of....

Is it a 3 issue series? I did not even notice. I thought for sure it would run longer. Let me know how the series turns out for you. Thanks for posting!

Thanks   I agree the name reminds me of something but I don't know what it is.  I'm thinking perhaps a song, maybe the Cure or one of those types of bands.

I may be wrong about the 3 issue run and I certainly hope that I am.  I know the end of issue 2 said "To Be Concluded" and I thought I read something in the first issue about three issues, but hopefully that just means this story arc.  There is certainly enough material there to carry a regular series or at least a more extended one.

ZombiesAteMyBrain,

I just finished XXXZombies. I have never read anything like it. It was so much better than Black Gas. The sad thing is in the midst of all the horror and gore, I was laughing at all the cooky stuff that was going on. My favorite parts were what happened in the church, and the part where the virgin guy got ventilated after he finally gets the girl. It was hilarious. That, my friend, was an awesomely entertaining read!! I am starting Zombies vs. Robots tomorrow. Thanks. How is Ennis going to top that?

Did you find out if Dead She Said is only a 3 parter yet? Let me know. I like that comic.

You gents have a great Labor Day weekend! Knock back a couple for me, huh? Take care.

Cool, I'm really glad you've enjoyed the ones you've read so far. Have you given any thought to those manga books I mentioned? I think I saw that they just released a new print of Uzumaki vol.1.

It's pretty different in tone from the others I mentioned, but if you've liked any of the Japanese horror movies of the last few years(The Ring,Pulse,Shutter, etc.) you would definitely like it.

I haven't heard or read anything so far so I'm just waiting for the 3rd issue to come out and see if it says anything.  That and check if a new issue is solicited in the next Previews which will be out in a couple days.

Thanks.  You too, have a good one.

ZombiesAteMyBrain,
You know I have never given manga a try. I used to like anime (Yu Yu Hakasho, Fist of the North Star, Rurouni Kenshin), but I never got into reading manga. But you know what? You have been right so far, so I will try it! I did like The Ring, but I have never heard of The Pulse or Shutter (now I have to go to Blockbuster). I will check the local store for Uzmaki, if it is not there I'll locate it on ebay next week. I REALLY like these comics that you are recommending to me. It goes to show that one should always keep an open mind. I appreciate your help ZombiesAteMyBrain. Incidentally, what crap horror comics, or horror writers, should I stay clear of (sometimes I will see a nice cover and buy up a comic; I expect I will soon start to do this with horror comics too)? Got a heads up for me?

I wouldn't call them CRAP, but IDW had 2 minis recently titled Zombies! that were, at best average, and Dynamite Entertainment had one called Raise the Dead that was pretty boring(but did have some nice Suydam covers).

As far as good stuff,I just remembered an older series called Flinch put out by DC(Vertigo) in '99 that ran 16 issues. It was a horror anthology series that had some real gems in it and could probably be found fairly cheap on EBay . I picked up a full run awhile back for about $10.

ZombiesAteMyBrain,
How are you? I apologize my use of the word crap was too strong. I know that all these writers work hard on their creations and that should be respected.
I though that the story for Zombies vs. Robots was very original. I did not expect zombie blood to be able to infect the robots!! I had to re0read the last page to see if I had missed something! And I was sure good things were in store for the final survivor...nothin' doin'. There was real atmosphere in the story...whether it was mostly sci-fi or horror I cannot say. Reading it was time well spent, especially after the day that I had.
About Uzmaki, I cannot seem to locate it. It is not being sold on ebay. I will check with my lcs, but the owner never has any stuff from Japan. I will check for Flinch, and I am still working on Preacher. I really want to read the whole run of that series. I think that I'll go ahead and and start Zombies vs. Robots vs. Amazons tonight. Keep the suggestions coming please! Thanks Big Z. Have a good week.
