Does anybody know if he ever auctioned off his collection? He has a new comic coming out?

he auctioned it off a couple of years ago (i think 2002) through heritage.

i think the auction broke a record for the most money realized in a comic auction.

3-4 years ago I saw a Fantastic Four #4 on Ebay that said it was part of the Nic Cage collection.

Someone: "So I hear you collect Spider-Man comics."
Me: "Yep."
Someone: "Well I happen to have Amazing Spider-Man #92"
Me: "I have #1"
Someone: ".......oh."

he probably didn't really get them himself. he probably had some lackeys gather some 'rare' comics so he could hold them for a sec and sell em later.

Boggles my mind to wonder why he would get rid of his collection. Hes obviously a huge comic book fan and he had some sweeeet issues. That FF4 #4 I saw was I think like 8.0 or higher. Its not like he needs the damn money!

Story is his than wife Lisa Marie Presley gave him an ultimatum, her or the comics. He got rid of the comics only to end up divorced anyway, she wanted him to “grow up” and give up the “childish hobby.” I've read comments from him that seemed to confirm that which is really sad, but not surprising. How many members here get flack from their significant other including being told to pare down or stop buying books altogether. And think of the people on here asking for advice who were told to sell their entire collection, it's a common situation I am afraid to say.
