| Hello Gents and Ladies, I am looking for any suggestions for displaying my vintage comics. My heart has sunken into total abject jealousy (smile) over some of the amazing Comics Rooms (you can see for yourself here: http://www.comicspriceguide.com/boards/Topic22-20-1.aspx) I saw on this forum. I would really like to display mine too, but I have always feared damage from light sources and the like. Right now, my CGC'ed comics are in a cool darkened closet and my other vintage comics are stored upright in comics boxes. I really would like to have them on display. Are there any suggestions that might help me to overcome this obstacle? Or maybe I should just leave them as they are? What say you? Thank you. Respectfully, David

I wonder the same thing, and haven't found a fantastic answer yet. I have a nice looking Flash 105 I'd definitely hang up if I learned of a good way. Some folks put up scans of their comics rather than the comic itself, but I'd want to show the real thing. I guess hanging it on a wall that doesn't get direct sunlight would be a good start.
As I understand it, the CGC case has no UV protection.

| I use high res scans and have them framed....I only put up scans of my actual comics, so I sort of feel I am hanging "the real thing". (BTW, there has been some work done in the room since the picture...the floral border is gone.)
And for a slabbed comic:
I don't actually have that IM #1 hung up, I did it just for illustration. I used a large plate hanger you can get at any hobby supply store. Speedy is right, no UV protection in the slab. I have several slabs I want to put up, but I haven't decided the best way yet.

| Speedy-D, I do understand. I tire of extricating my comics from the boxes when my mates pop over, so that they can snag a proper gander. I dream of setting up my Silver-Age Showcase 1st appearances, and my Silver-Age #1's on a proper shelf, and possibly using the wall behind it to display, in connecting mylar sleeves of some sort, my Golden Age, and Silver Age key issues and pieces of interest. However, as some of my comics are not yet CGC graded (I am not sure I want to, I like being able to put my hands on history as it were), I do not want to risk any deterioration. Yet, upon viewing some of the amazing rooms that I saw on this forum, I am most tempted to risk it. It must be wonderful to pop into a spot and enjoy the view of your collection. If anyone else has any ideas, I am open. Thanks for your reply Speedy-D. Respectfully, David

| Argus! Your room is quite nice indeed. Speedy-D mentioned scans as well. Your framed scans certainly give a most convincing argument for doing such a thing. Yes indeed. I think that I would rather have a case, or shelf maybe for CGC graded pieces. Those scans sure are the bees knees; did you swing those yourself, or might they have been professionally rendered? Thank you for your reply Argus. Respectfully, David

| The scans are just off my HP officejet, and printed on the same using the cheapest photo paper I could find. The frames are just the cheapest document frames I could find that didn't have an actual border. I actually have 2 rows of them now along one wall of my comic room (over where the flowers are), and there are quite a few put up in my son's room and a couple sub-mariners in his bathroom. All the ones up in those rooms were ones he picked out himself. (Luckily I didn't let him pick out of my 'adult' comic boxes. ) I've thought about looking for UV filtering plexi and putting it in front of my slabs and them putting them up on the plate hangers, but I am not sure how much the UV plexi would cost. You can buy mylar that DOES filter UV rays, BTW. You actually could then just hang the actual comic.

| Apparently Mylites from egerber are made with mylar-d and filter out 99% of UV according to egerber's website. http://www.egerber.com/aboutpreservation2.asp Buy those and hang your comics to your heart's content apparently. (I still wouldn't do it). Also, you can go to any decent framing store to get some Acrylite OP-3 sheeting, maybe you can get pieces cut to put in front of your slabs...might be real expensive though.
