| Hello, The other day I won a 1st Edition Black Panther comic in mint condition signed by John Romita Jr. aka "JR JR" and is the 1st issue of Black Panther. I don't collect comics, and would like to sell this but, I don't know the value of this. A friend who did some research for me estimated I could get at least $30 for it. I guess Romita's father was best friends with Stan Lee as well, to go on-top of him being the cover artist for this comic. The people that gave it to me (the hosts of Gamma Powered Radio) says it's worth a pretty good amount. Anybody else have a more accurate estimate of how much this is worth?

You probably wont like your answers, but around here it is worth about $2.99 or less. Not everyone feels that signatures enhance the value of a book and others still believe it detracts from it. Also the value itself is somewhat mercurial, as some people do not even think that JR JR is that good of an artist. Also do you have anything that authenticates the signature? Not that it really matters because those can be forged as well.
You have to first find someone who wants it, and then is willing to buy it before you can get a value on it.
Where does he get those wonderful toys!
I have yet begun to surrender.

Yea, I already read that. I highly don't understand it because anything in anything else only enhances it. I use to collect football cards (and all sports cards pretty much) and an autograph from an athlete at least doubles the value in most cases. I understand your concept to a degree but at the same time, it just doesn't make sense to me, sorry. Hopefully I can find somebody that believes the same so I can at least get something for it. The guy's that gave it to me we're huge nerds to say the least (after all, they are hosts of a Gaming Radio Show) and said that is very valuable. Not exactly sure why they would lie about that, it's not like they were selling it...

I don't know how it goes with sports cards, but comic creators are pretty readily available. I went to a couple conventions when I was a kid and I now have piles of comics signed by Art Adams, Bill Sienkiewick, Eastman & Laird, and a few others. I've never run into anyone who was impressed enough to offer me anything over the standard value for any of them.
If we're talking about a key older comic, signed by one of the main creators (like Stan Lee or Jack Kirby signing an X-Men #1), then all bets are off. Even in those cases though, I'm not so sure I'd want the signature on the cover. Some folks just scrawl all over the cover and it looks terrible.
But signed comics are a bit of a frontier. Some people totally go for them (they usually have their favorites) ... so like you've heard before, find the right buyer and you'll be in good shape. Just be aware that most people will not pay extra. The folk on these boards are pretty big time comic collectors, and the general consensus is that signed comics aren't worth extra, so that must tell you something.
