He was just one of the greatest artists in comics of all time. He may have been one of the first artists in the industry who was capable and did create photo realistic images in comics. And that he was cranking out quality work at 96 makes it even more amazing.

He was the Professional's Professional......that's what Gill Fox and other professionals thought of him...

And it just wasn't comics...

From 1960 -1971 he worked on Winslow Mortimer's David Crane daily strip...and won the 2007 Sparky award from The Cartoon Museum in San Francisco for it...

and Guy Gilchrist once noted...
There is nothing in cartooning and comics that he hasn’t done. Just the stuff he did, (unsigned, so not too many people would know,) for the ad agency, Johnstone and Cushing puts him up there with Dik Browne, Jack Murphy, Stan Drake, Lou Fine.

They're putting together a pretty good bullpen out there in the Great Beyond...

"hello darkness my old friend...

I've come to talk with you again..."

everytime we turn around, another one is off to the great bullpen...

oh the fates are twisting this way and that...who's pen will be next to fall, who's thread will come to its end of the skein...

They are all great, in their own creative ways, to make the memories we grew with, held and hold so dear...and now they rest, and hold no fears..to sleep, per chance to dream as the bard once said...think of them not as dead...but having now the time to do freely that which in this life, they loved so much, to write, to draw, to pen with awe..

say not goodbye, but just turn the page, till the next issue is due..

just say...We'll be seeing you...
