Just wondering how CPG regards PGX graded comics in relation to CGC graded comics...just as good?  Better?  Not as reputable?

Also, I couldn't help but notice that CPG lists values for comics approximated at 9.4.  What if you possess a comic graded higher than that which is listed (9.6, 9.8, etc.)?   By what amount does CPG increase the value of the comic (example - add $20 for each concurrent grade, thus if a 9.4 has a value of $20, does a 9.6 value out at $40?)?

Market-wise...PGX graded books have not realized the same level of prices that CGC graded books have...

We do not have an official opinion on the merits of either of them...although we do participate in a discount program with CGC...

If you click on an individual issue number...you'll see a listing of prices all the way up to 10.

Our average default is 9.4...but we provide prices for all of the grades.

I have purchased many CGC and PGX comics on ebay and I find their grading and value very similar. I was just looking at CGC comics on ebay last night and page after page of CGC "Buy It Now" were passing without even a bid; and the prices were cut-rate. The only ones that were selling were those below $50. Check it out for yourself. I believe one is about as good as the other, but because so many collectors and dealers have so much money invested in CGC they attack PGX as a "scam" or "unreputable" to protect themselves at the expense of being fair and truthful.
I bought a PGX Uncanny X-Men 94 in 8.5 and was very pleased. I would have probably graded it higher. I think there is too much abuse of both CGC and PGX grading by speculators and dealers. NO ONE SHOULD PAY MORE THAN THE APPROXIMATE OVERSTREET VALUE OF A COMIC BOOK WHETHER IT IS "PROFESSIONALLY" GRADED OR NOT PLUS, MAYBE, THE COST OF SLABBING.
The idea that a book is worth more in any grade just because it's slabbed is ridiculous. A 9.4 is a 9.4, in or out of a slab. Personally I hope the market crashes at the high end and the speculators lose their @$$.

I've heard too many horror stories about PGX, I wouldn't do business with them under any circumstances. Obviously, I can't confirm any of the things I've heard, but as the old saying goes, "where there's smoke there's fire." I've heard about people receiving packages from PGX that contained slabbed comics that were different copies than the ones sent in, slabbed copies of multiple-printing high-end moderns (like TMNT 1) that were cracked open and found to be later printings, although the slab's label said "first printing"...

There was a thread somewhere on this site that documented the two stories I just repeated, but I can't seem to find it now; perhaps it's no longer there. I repeat that I have no way of confirming that those stories are true, but I'm not willing to take a chance.

Should PGX really be considered competition for CGC?

"In my time nightmares walked among us... walked and danced. Skewering victims in plain sight. Laying their fears and worst desires out for everyone to see, just to make us laugh.
And now nightmares are trapped inside the heads of humans. Pitiful echoes of themselves. I wonder whom they angered so to merit such a fate."

I'm going to like comments and play around with the star ratings.... AND QUITE POSSIBLY TROLL.
