He said at Comic Con that this was going to be Will Eisner's Spirit, not Frank Miller's Spirit... So as usual, he's full of it. Unless the previews, and commercials are wrong, and its all a snow job, he's showing FM"s version of film noir.
I can wait for the dvd...if that, but this is not Will Eisner's Spirit.
Jeez, did he really have the nerve to say that? How much further from Will Eisner's Spirit could this get?
I'd say, as a completely random movie devoid of any comics reference, it looks pretty mediocre. As a movie based on The Spirit, it looks rotten.
