Since CPG has ignored my request to list Dime Press, an Italian fanzine of comic book noir, I've decided to start this informal record of existing sales; specifically for Dime Press #4 (the 1st "true" appearance of Hellboy). According to Amazon.com only 2000 prints of this book were ever published. And although CPG may not perceive any value in this book (yet), many collectors do and are willing to pay big to get in on the ground level of this newly realized event as illustrated in the list of following sales. Many seller's as of this date, are located in Italy...after all, it's an Italian Comic, but the buyers have been located in the USA. Anyways, this is for those who want it, have it and need it. "It" being Dime Press #4 and the going prices of this comic.

Here is a link of known facts and a scan regarding Dime Press #4 from the old ComicPriceguide forum: http://www.comicspriceguide.com/forum2/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=42970&SearchTerms=dime,press

On the old forum I started something similar to this for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #1 first print. I was disappointed because guides weren't just inaccurate they didn't appear to even follow sales enough to give collectors, like me, a gage of going prices. I guess guides are in fear of being wrong but in an age of such wide spread communication and information one would think...*sigh*

BTW, I'm not a GPA subscriber so I won't be posting any of that...even if it does exist.

I'll try to be consistant with order of information: Web Page, Seller's (name) description/Condition, Item number (when applicable), End Date & Winning Bid/Price.

I don't think CPG is ignoring this -- it's just that it doesn't fall under their consideration as a 'comic' per se. A fanzine isn't all sequential art.

Thanks! I'm watching it too. It'll be interesting. BTW, thanks to seeing the CGC label, I now know the month it came out; 5/93 I couldn't tell on the book itself. Thanks again!

I have my eye on that 9.6 copy as well.

How much would you be prepared to pay for it?

Actually he has been ignored on this multiple times....there are other fanzine books listed in the database with the disclaimer beside them as NON COMIC...and this one is a key appearance of a popular character....at least it has been accepted as such by the comic collecting community since the prices for this are heading up up up...sorry to see that the CPG higher ups have ignored this...

Thanks for the updates Dan..

Okay...let's set the record straight...

"Comic-related" items...fanzines, pro-zines, artbooks, etc. are NOT being included in this database.

If the book is not substantially composed of sequential panel story-telling...it's not going to be listed here.

Those kinds of items would be listed in a proposed "sister-site" that would also include comic-related novels, historical reference books, pulps, big-little books, etc., etc....
That "sister-site" is still just in the planning stages...but could show up sooner than you think...

The items that are mistakenly in the current database were entered before criteria and the possibility of a companion site were discussed....mostly by me...

So consider yourself lucky if you are able to track one of those items in our database...

...and keep bringing me information and market updates on the related materials...

Thanks for clearing that up Shadow.......with no one chiming in at all every time its been mentioned it just seemed like no one at CPG cared.

Seller's (teobbes) Descript: "I grade this copy as VF (8.0) at least. No tears, no rips, no creases." *Note: Photo of comic shows lots of rubbing wear of the cover resulting in numerous white blemishes throughout the cover's black borders; front and rear. All corners blunted, majority dog-eared with multiple creases. Low eye appeal...this is a condition of a book left in the quarter box for 6 month's. Contrary to the seller's description, I believe this books condition to be no higher than 5.5 (Item Location: Spain...Sold to U.S. Buyer)

eBay Item number: 320268841430, Number of Bids 11, Ended July 6, Winning Bid $249.00
