I just finished reading the first 9 issues of the new Titans book. It's like an old pair of pants, comfortable and familiar. I haven't read any Titans since the late 80's, but it's like I never left. I'm enjoying it, though a book has to be really bad for me not to. I'm assuming at some point in my getting caught up Nightwing will be leaving to become Batman? That'll kind of be a downer, but for now I'm enjoying it.

I just read Creatures on the Loose #10,
It was a really good story. King Kull, in his 1st app in the MU, is sulking over his by-gone days as a marginalized barbarian on the outskirts of Atlantis. He is in a deep melancholy, when he comes upon an ancient, dark castle in which he decides to pass the night with his Royal Guardsmen. Kull does this against the fearful warnings of the wisest of his men who is his personal slave and friend (how does that work?). The slave tells a grim tale of a great wizard who did battle with "The Silence," the embodiment of silence, and emptiness in the universe. The wizard defeated this monster and trapped it in the castle . Yep. In the muthaf---in castle man. Of course, Kull yells, "Bah!" and opens the door, breaking the wizard's seal...and all hell commences to breaking loose...
I am a sucker for tales of bygone ages. Always have been, always will be. The story was more of a study of Kull than anything. I enjoyed that, and the art was done by Berni Wrightson, so it was really on point: great shadowing and sketchy in all the right areas. By the time that the story is done, there is a big change that has taken place in the life of the main character, and we can see a new direction for him and his subjects on the horizon. Good stuff.
The second story was about something called Trull...and I've already forgotten it. That's all I have to say about that.

| Newbie here with my first posting. I felt like a prudish old lady after reading the back issue set of The Adventures of the Rifle Brigade, Operation Bollock. Total depravity and pure uck they were. Just can't say anything else about them. I am a fan of Freak Angels, so when I came across a copy of Global Frequency (#7), I had to give it a go. I think I just stepped into the middle of something much bigger. I'll be looking to start this story from the beginning. I've gotta say, this morning I was searching online for the last 2 Zits comic strips, to see if they were continuing the Love Isn't theme. They're not. I'm not a Zits fan, but when I saw their version of the Love Is comic from the 70s, I had to clip and save them. Anyway, while searching I came across comments left about the 3 Love Isn't strips, and I no longer feel quite so prudish! Goodness, if the Love Isn't strips sent their moral compasses swirling, they'd have had strokes reading Operation Bollock. No doubt. Peace, Doe

I just finished reading all 4 Destroyer mags,
I hadda do it. They were great! They were funny and filled with good action. The dialogue is riotous! It seems a bit racist at points, but the point seems to be to show the ignorance of characters...which they begin to lose as they develop their relationship. The art is really good, and the inserts, and interludes are killer funny! It's got nearly the perfect blend of action and humor.
I could've seen myself buying this every month.
My one complaint is that Remo does not seem to be learning from Chiun. Bu issue four Remo should be more trained and less of a foul up/comedy relief. He had an amazing flash of brilliance at the end of issue #1 when Shiva seemed to possess his body, Even Chiun noticed the connection between Remo's codename: The Deatroyer and Shiva it seems. Alas, it was not developed and by issue four, he was already dealing with super-hero type behemoths instead of taking down spies, terrorists.
Would I like to have the entire set? YEP!
STATUS: Recommended!
ENJOY!

Howdy, Doe, and welcome aboard. I read ish one of Operation Bollock awhile back and I thought it was migh-tee funny... planning to pick up #s 2 and 3 next time I see them in a discount bin. Looks like you've got interesting taste in comics.
As far as depravity and antisocial ick, have you read The Filth? It's confusing and avant-garde, but if you look at reviewers online, half of them raise a stink about how disgusting and perverse the sexual content is.

Nope, haven't even heard of The Filth. I'll try and see what I can find out about it online. I enjoy watching Lupin III, and he's referred to as depraved, but he's just plain funny to me. I put all 3 issues of Operation Bollock in a box for trading, so if you're in the US, and would like to trade for them, I'm game. I've gotta warn you, each issue is more disturbing than the one before. Peace, Doe

Actually, you know, I picked up Operation Bollock #2 and the first issue of the earlier Rifle Brigade miniseries two days ago out of a 0.50 box at a LCS, so I guess I'll pass on those books.
I might be up for trading, though, if we can work out a deal that involves 10 books or more. (I'm in the USA, and I'm real stingy about postage...) If you have a list, I'd be happy to look at it -- send it to me in a pvt? Or send it to pmadreenter@yahoo.com . I can't find the URL to my own list at the moment, but I'll get it straightened out and have the list ready if I hear from you. (I need to update that list anyway...) What I'm most interested in, as far as moderns, is Vertigo books and Marvel/DC titles that have published continuously since the 60's, with consecutive issue numbers since then. If you want to talk about trading older books, that's cool too, but I probably don't have as much to offer.
Funny coincidence, seeing you at the blog just on the day I posted the Op. Boll. review -- I didn't plan that, swear on a stack of X-Men! Happy to see a little more traffic, there, though. Don't be shy about posting comments, tell me I've got my head up my... or anything else that pops into your mind...

What up fellas?
Here's one:

That cover art is horrific innit?
It's Negative Burn #6. I purchased it by accident looking for the 1st app of Proof. It's mostly an interesting read. There are 2 great stories inside. One is "Jack's Riff" and it's about an aging hippie reflecting on how the works of writers like Jack Kerouac have changed and defined his life. It's very deep and insightful. The next story that I likes is called, "See a Penny, Pick It Up." This story tells the tale of a vengeful trickster, Loki, seeking to find humans dumb enough, greedy enough, or wicked enough to replace him in prison under the earth. It's got a Vertigo feel to it. I think that it could swing a mini series.
ENJOY!!
