| I thought I'd post some of the links I've found for free versions of mainly first issues of different series online. There are many places to find these online versions. For the most part they are offered by publishers on their sites as a means of promoting lesser know material; as a result most of the stuff I'll be linking to is material from independent publishers or smaller imprints. I'll be updating this thread as I come across other books. If you happen to know of other books available online, please provide the link. A couple of guidelines for posted material: 1) Please keep in mind that all the links need to be only to LEGALLY provided material. Please don't add any links to illegal copies of or downloadable versions of copyrighted material. If I see any, I'll nix the link. We want to provide links to material in order to turn readers onto new material, not to steal money from creators trying to make a living. 2) Links posted must adhere to the overall guidelines of the CPG forums. For example, no posting links to sites with sexually explicit contents (i.e. no adult comics )

THE KILLER #1 from Archaia Posted OnlineI have been enjoying this series since it was released. It is well worth checking out. Here is synopsis from the first trade edition for those who aren't aware of the book yet. The Killer Volume 1 (June/July 2007, ISBN: 978-1-932386-44-8, Diamond Order Code: APR07 3388, $19.95, 128-pages, full-color hardcover graphic novel (with dust jacket), Genres: Crime / Suspense / Drama, Mature Readers) Matz’s and Luc Jacamon’s cult classic from France, widely known as one of Europe’s grittiest and most hard-boiled noir comics, brings to the U.S. a professional killer. A man of few scruples, nerves of steel and a steady trigger finger. A man whose crimes might be catching up with him. A man on the verge of cracking. The Killer chronicles one man’s journey through some seriously bad mojo. According to Matz: “Some say my Killer is a cynic, a pessimist, politically incorrect; I’d say he is all that, but the overall purpose of the series is humanist. This is what is going on here: trying to see the world as it is. Get rid of all the political correctness, clichés, empty ideas, and deal with it.” Issue #1 Part One here: http://forum.newsarama.com/showthread.php?t=115812 Issue #1 Part Two here: http://forum.newsarama.com/showthread.php?t=116127 Issue #1 Part Three here: http://forum.newsarama.com/showthread.php?t=116261

SUPER TEEN TOPIA #1 Newsarama.com has the entire first issue of this series online. by by Kirk Kushin and Gonzalo Martinez with colors by Laura Abella It seems like most teen books today are either a variation of the Teen Titans (the classic super team institution) or the New Mutants (the academy/Sky High theme). I wanted to develop something that took a look at being empowered more from the sensibilities of a John Hughes film. Being a teen and operating in a high school environment is a major challenge… just because you have 'powers' doesn’t mean your problems go away. The book is very much in the vein of Greatest American Hero – where the character had a suit with powers but he was still dealing with everyday issues… stuff that was funny because you could relate to it. Super Teen Topia is all the good stuff of Freaks and Geeks, Square Pegs and Sixteen Candles… but in a 'super-soap' format." http://www.newsarama.com/general/Forcewerks/STT01/STT01_full.html

| Here are some first issues from Virgin Comics posted at Newsarama.com. DEVI #1 by Siddharth Kotian and Mukesh Singh, based on a concept created by Shekhar Kapur In the second century of mankind's arrival on earth, the Gods of light took up arms against one of their own. Bala, a fallen dark God, had rejected the old ways of the pantheon and sought to impose his dominion over mankind. Feeding off the forced worship of men Bala grew too powerful for the pantheon to combat alone. So the pure Gods each sacrificed a part of themselves to create a powerful entity. She is Devi. A fierce feminine warrior, stronger than the Gods themselves, she is reincarnated into the body of a human woman each time a great threat faces the Pantheon. She is the champion of the heavens, and the protector of man. Having defeated Bala in her virgin incarnation so many centuries ago, a modern-day Devi must be reborn to combat the Dark Lord who has returned and grown more powerful than ever. He now controls the festering city of Sitapur – a metropolis of slums and perverted technology built on the ruins of the ancient city of Candaka. It is in these ruins that the greatest power is believed to be hidden – a vessel containing the energy released by the timeless prayers of man to the Gods of Light. It is called The Source, and if Bala is able to access it, complete control over the heavens and earth will be his. It is up to Devi to protect the source, and thus the Gods and all of mankind. Now in the city of Sitapur, where the mythic and modern collide, Devi is hunting Bala's demon race and being hunted by a scorned breed of assassins employed by Bala. Her single ally is a washed up, burnt-out, alcoholic detective named Raoul who has long claimed to see the city's demons and sensed its tenuous fate, but has been dismissed by everyone because of his own dark demon-filled past. But it's Devi's fascination for Raoul, her increasing desire not to save humanity but to save him, not to exorcise Sitapur's demons, but to exorcise his, that now fuels her quest. This is not the story of the girl who wanted to be the Goddess but rather the Goddess who longed to a girl. This is the story of the divine that sacrificed it all for the fleeting feeling of being human. http://www.newsarama.com/virgincomics/Devi/01/Devi01_full.html
JOHN WOO'S 7 BROTHERS #1 by Garth Ennis and Jeevan Kang. Six hundred years ago, a mighty treasure fleet set out to sail the oceans of the world. They reached every continent, discovered every land long before history's great explorers stole the credit for their feats. Now, in modern day Los Angeles, seven men with nothing in common but their destinies are drawn together in the service of a mysterious young woman. An ancient prophecy must be fulfilled. Something terrible is reaching out across the centuries. There's a world to be saved... and the only hope for us all is a motley crew of so-called brothers and a power too terrifying to be used. http://www.newsarama.com/virgincomics/Week/7BR01_full.html
RAMAYAN 3392 AD #1 Created by Deepak Chopra and Shekhar Kapur; written by Shamik Dasgupta and art by Abhishek Singh In an age of desolation and darkness when the world is dying from the curse that men inflicted upon themselves, a great epic shall take place once again. The spawn of the final destruction that decimated earth wills to carve the world to his own soulless image; he is Ravan the master of the half living race of Asuras. His armies marches across the world invading one land after another and poisoning the earth with his vile mechanoids. But there is hope still and it lies in Ayodhya, the last vestige of the race of humans, a gleaming city that boasts the finest of warriors – Kshatriyas. But even Ayodhya has been infected by the evil that spreads across the world like a contagion, and the prime victim is Rama, the first born of the Maharaj or chief councilor of Ayodhya. By treachery Rama is exiled from his land, but in the course of his travels he finds out the true meaning to his existence: he has to become the scourge of the Asuras and the protector of the daughter of earth. Thus begins Rama's journey across the kingdoms, lands and continents, the quest to retrieve the soul of the planet and cleansing of the world of a malevolent darkness that threatens to engulf it. http://www.newsarama.com/virgincomics/ramayan/01/Ramayan01_full.html
THE SADHU #1 by Gotham Chopra and Jeevan Kang I was once a "Sadhu" - what, in the East, they call mystics. I was sitting on the threshold of moksha - spiritual liberation or enlightenment. But I'm not one anymore. Because I lusted after something else, something just as primal and ubiquitous. It's called revenge. The Sadhu is about one man's choice between his spiritual oath and his human instinct. When James Jensen, a down on his luck Englishman, is recruited into her majesty Queen Victoria's army and posted with his family in India in the summer of 1858, he begins a journey that will take him from being a simple soldier to a spiritual warrior. But faced with tragedy and his own impending execution at the hands of his evil commanding officer, James flees his military unit only to find himself lost deep in the jungle and at the mercy of a seeming band of Indian killers. But when their leader, Dadathakur, orders a reprieve and eventually allows James to join them on their attacks of the local Indian landowners that side with the British, James embarks on a dark path of violence in an effort to avenge the atrocities committed to his family. But soon he discovers it's not the answer and is drawn to the gentle nature and sublime wisdom of Dada. James adopts the ways of the Sadhu, a coded way of life that not only teaches an obscure form of martial arts but also illuminates the true nature of reality and at last teaches James the one eternal truth: the path we choose is who we are. http://www.newsarama.com/virgincomics/Sadhu/01/Sadhu01_full.html
SNAKE WOMAN #1 by Zeb Wells and Michael Gaydos, and created by Shekhar Kapur Snake Woman is the story of Jessica Peterson, a young introspective midwestern girl who has moved to Los Angeles where she works as a waitress in a downtown LA dive-bar. Naturally quiet and reserved, Jessica's slow immersion into the bigger city life is accelerated all of a sudden when one night a yuppie bar patron she mistakenly trusts accosts her. When he tries to take advantage of her (walking her home from the bar) rattling on about some ancient order and other strange things during the attack itself, Jessica is not only able to fight him off, she actually turns predator and rather gruesomely kills him. Overwhelmed with emotion, Jessica feels a strange one mixed in – arousal. Why did killing him feel so damn good? Snake Woman is the re-invention of India's ancient Snake (Naga) legends, in which the soul of the serpent reptile is reborn in the form of a sexy and unsuspecting heroine. Increasingly possessed by her reptilian instincts and driven to avenge a centuries old wrong, Jess is now part of something far greater than herself. Torn between her human brain (ethics, morals, intellect) and her reptilian one (instincts, senses, and survival patterns), Jessica has to uncover this new part of herself and reconcile a fate that suggests we are not living our lives, it's our lives that our living through us. http://www.newsarama.com/virgincomics/Week/snakewoman/SnakeWoman01.html
WALK IN #1 by Dave Stewart, Jeff Parker, and artist Ashish Padlekar Do you experience missing time? Predict strangers' dreams? Do twins seem to follow you wherever you go? And do you sometimes see cephalopods attached to other people without their knowledge? Don't worry, you're not going mad…yet. You're simply a WALK-IN. http://www.newsarama.com/virgincomics/Week/WalkIn/01/WalkIn01_pre.html

| Here are some issues from Top Cow posted at Newsarama.com. Including the entire six issue "Witch Hunt" story arche from Witchblade. WITCHBLADE #80 - 85 written by Ron Marz with art by Mike Choi First issue with the new team. A chance to pick up new readers. Covers by Frank Cho and Greg Land, as well as new series artist Mike Choi, in kind of a farewell to the metal bikini look. All of which meant the issue should be a ground-floor read, as welcoming to new readers as possible. So, of course, the logical thing to do was have the main character in a coma for the entire issue. Not exactly the usual method of kicking off a new story arc, but astonishingly enough, Top Cow let me do it. I wanted to start my run on Witchblade with a big story, something with big stakes and big consequences. In this case, the end of the world. So the "Witch Hunt" arc unfolds as a mystery, which seemed the right way to go for a book that should be equal parts crime drama and supernatural thriller. The story also touches on Sara's Catholic faith, and the cost of bearing a burden like the Witchblade. I tend to like my heroes paying some sort of price for what they do, especially where the people around them are concerned. The biggest introduction in the arc, starting here in issue #80, is the new character of Detective Patrick Gleason. I felt like the readers -- especially those who are new to the book -- needed a point-of-view character, someone who is being introduced to Sara Pezzini's world at the same time the readers are. Gleason started out as a device to provide a way into the book, but as current issues show, he's grown into a fairly important character in the book. Spinning out of the current events in the monthly Witchblade series, regular series writer Ron Marz (Ion, Samurai: Heaven & Earth) delivers the story that fans have been asking for since the pivotal Witchblade #100 – the birth of Sara Pezzini's child and the truth behind her mysterious pregnancy! Marz is joined by Croatian painting sensation Stjepan Sejic (The Darkness: Level 1, Witchblade) to deliver the most compelling event of 2007. This First Look introduces new fans to the story leading into First Born as well as an exclusive early look at the event itself. First Born is a self-contained fully painted three issue series involving the entirety of the Top Cow Universe. Details of the series have been closely guarded, but one thing is certain… Baby Makes Three. http://www.newsarama.com/Top_Cow/FirstBorn/01/FirstBorn01_full.html
