What is the term for the condition seen in these two pictures?

And, assuming for argument's sake the comic is otherwise in pristine condition, what grade would the comic have?
I have quite a few comics in similar shape from a previous "storage" system that basically consisted of "big pile o' comics" but they're generally only read once or twice, with reasonable care.
EDIT: Hopefully the photo links work now. It seems Picasa doesn't share very well?

I agree Joker, 9.6 (maybe better if you bag/board it and put something heavy on it for a while...that spine roll is nothin')

| Huh, interesting, thanks. I thought it was perhaps a worse flaw than that. Most of the grading guides I've seen either don't talk much about spine rolling, or if they do, it's in the case of something that would downgrade it to Fine or worse.

And, assuming for argument's sake the comic is otherwise in pristine condition, what grade would the comic have? If you go to http://www.e-bigs.net/freetool.php and change only the "lying flat" section to the middle choice it gives you a grade of a 9.4. This is more of an example of "Spine Lift" rather than spine roll.

| I agree US that is common when boards arent used and the books will flatten out over time in proper storage. I tend to think of spine roll when the pages fan out on one side or the other and its fairly difficult to flatten out a book like that. With proper storage "lifting" will eventually settle and the book will otherwise be again flat. I have gotten plenty of books in collections like that and they work themselves out over time. Im kind of a hard *** when it comes to grading and think it isnt a big deal.............. -LS
