I just don't get what went wrong at DC. Just a few years ago we had the strong starts to the then relaunched Teen Titans and The Outsiders. The Lee and Joeb Hush run on Batman. Identity Crisis and then into Infinite Crisis. DC seemed so on top of things.

Superman/Batman started strong but every issue left more unresolved plot threads. Lee on Superman fizzled. Birthright left us confused, it was the official origin, now it's not in continuity, or is it? JLA Classified and JSA Classified launched but seemed disconnected from the rest of the DCU. 52 was ok and left lots more unresolved plot threads. Countdown was a disaster. Secret Six minis rocked.

Green Lantern and Justice Society still keep us hopeful. Final Crisis promised to explain what the heck has been going on since 2004 but will it?

Has there been a master plan for the last 4 years that's about to pay off or have they been making it up as they go along? When will the 1843 dangling plot threads be addressed.

Earl.

I tell ya, as a person just coming back to comics, DC feels like a real disaster. I loved DC when I used to be into comics 20 years ago, and I still have zero interest in Marvel. Maybe they have some good stuff, I'm sure they do, but at (at least) 3 bucks a pop, I'm not even going to check them out. But with DC, it all just seems like a crazy mash up. From reading the comics, I get the feeling that there's a big common thread or threads running through everything, but I can't really grasp it. I think it's just a lot of confusion. And there's no way that six issues of Final Crisis are going to suddenly clear things up (I say six not seven, because Final Crisis #1 was about as confusing as anything I've read so far). And anyway, from what I've seen, Grant Morrison's strong suit is not taking a murky mess and clearing it up.

Hallelujah brother!

DC's PR is so bad right now I'm not sure if it will be recoverable any time soon. They look to be in really bad shape right now...

Why?..Because Dixon is unprofessional and whined about losing a job?.

You're all jumping to conclusions.

If that is the conclusion you want to believe...

I personally see it more as he is the first guy to get to the point that he does not agree with the decisions that DC Editorial has been making and he spoke up about it.  My comic book guy also mentioned that Chuck Dixon has never gotten along with Morrison either - which makes sense to me because (as many of you know), I dislike Morrison with a passion.

I think Chuck did not like what the 'all knowing, all great' Morrison is going to do with the bat books and he was being forced to fall in line by Didio - he voiced his concern and Didio let him know where he stands - he told him to get off the boat.

With the sales figures for DC, the amount of bad reviews these big storylines are getting, and the personal fact that I now collect 1/3 the DC books I used to, I am happy to see that Chuck Dixon at least agrees with what I am seeing with DC and I am glad he is saying something.

Just my opinion though - I could very well be jumping to conclusions.

My apologies - one correction

I do not personally hate Grant Morrison - I just do not personally like his writing style or anything that he has written that I have read.

Now - with that said - I do believe that this entire story, however much of it is true or just assumptions, is more compelling than anything Grant Morrison has written on the Batman title in the last 2-3 years that he has been ruining the book.

I hate to say it, but I think I agree. I just started reading the Morrison Batman comics, and the first few at least were pretty ridiculous. Talia or whatever her name is hands Batman a kid (who proves himself a little poo-monger immediately), and what does Batman do? Takes him home & to the bat cave, and leaves him there alone to beat on poor old Alfred and try to kill Robin. Which he almost does very easily. Where's the World's Greatest Detective® work?
