Darn, I can't edit the title...

How was this series? I've always wanted to collect this series and looking at some of Earl Davis' I'm considering attempting a full run. But how was it story wise?

I liked it and have a fair amount of the series. IMO the 1980 - 1984 series was a bit better.

If you're talking about the New Teen Titans by Wolfman and Perez than it is awesome and luckily not too expensive I've seen a few sets going for only a buck a book except the first 2 issues which are a little more expensive but not too bad at all.

"Show me a man or a woman alone and I'll show you a saint.
Give me two and they'll fall in love.
Give me three and they'll invent the charming thing we call 'society'.
Give me four and they'll build a pyramid.
Give me five and they'll make one an outcast.
Give me six and they'll reinvent prejudice.
Give me seven and in seven years they'll reinvent warfare. Man may have been made in the image of God, but human society was made in the image of His opposite number, and is always trying to get back home." -Glen Bateman (The Stand)

First series (from 1980): http://www.comicspriceguide.com/p-issues.asp?t_ID=781&pub=2

The one that Earl has copies of(1984): http://www.comicspriceguide.com/p-issues.asp?t_ID=782&pub=2

Both really great reads.

Thanks a lot I was actually referring to both, I couldn't collect just one series, I'd have to go for both.

From a huge Titans fan, I would have to say the Wolfman/Perez era of the Teen Titans were the best. It only started to go down hill during the middle of the New Titans series. The 2nd volume of Teen Titans would probably be the worst, IMO. If you can get past the corny "groovy" dialect in the original series I'd suggest picking up the two TPBs that came out over the past few years: Showcase Presents the Teen Titans vol1. and vol.2. You'll gain more appreciation for the Wolfman/Perez era.
