"Chuck Austin is a distant memory." don'tsayhisnamedon'tsayhisnamedon'tsayhisname! I've heard if u say his name three times while holding an X-Men comic he APPEARS before you and screws up Nightcrawler's continuity. He, that shall not be named, single handedly ruined UXM for me. God he sucked! I still dont know how marvel could of published such crap!

| I love Marvel comics ,I mean a real abiding love. I love there characters love the showmanship of Stan lee . I remember a few years ago ,it might have Archie Goodwin or Mark Grunewald ,was recounting a story about how they got Moebius to do the 2 part Silver Surfer series. Somehow or other he was approached sheepishly about would he consider "lowering" himself to doing a poster or somesuch for Marvel and he came back and said he love to do a series for them. They were taken aback ,this is Moebius after all ..he doesnt do Marvel Superhero comics ,he does all this weird arty stuff. Paraphrasing He came back and said ,you dont know what you have ,Marvel comics are prime examples of a totally new art form ,this wholly unique American Comics featuring New Gods ,creating a whole new brash mythos that will become part of history. The guys at Marvel were really taken aback and looked at their product in a whole different way IMO Marvel comics is on a journey ,like any and all companies they will eventually fold or be bought and peter out ,it might take 20 to 50 years or longer but it will happen. We are watching a tapestry unfold ,an incredibly rich and textured ongoing saga told by so many different and immensely talented creators . Dont take your eye off it CK,keep your hand in ,buy a title ,a month its American History, its mythmaking ,its wonderful

Havok (6/10/2008) I'd wager that Marvel has just as many solid titles at the moment as does DC or any other publisher currently releaseing comics. From the initial post (and the many that have followed) it's clear that many if not most of people thus far already have their minds made up about Marvel, and this post in question is more an excuse to ridicule those that do enjoy Marvel books. What exactly does DC have going for it? Besides Green Lantern I can't think of anything worth a crap, especially Final Crisis. All Star Superman has never been IMO the book everyone makes it out to be. I had to fight my way through 10 issues due to my compulsive nature and wanting to have a clean run, but I dropped it immediately after that. 2-3 years ago, I'd say that yeah DC did have some better books, but that day is long past now, and I think the crap DC has going for it is way worse then Marvel. As for Image, Vertigo, Dark Horse or any other indy publisher, what do they have honestly? Maybe 1 or 2 solid books, and then more junk thats probably worse then the major publishers. If you don't have a reason to read Marvel, then don't, but assuming its any worse then any other publisher at this time doesn't make sense to me. Read what you like, ask for recommendations, but no one on this board wil be able to convince you to read a book from any publisher that you already have a negative opinion of.i agree with you. Captain America and both avengers books are worth reading right now, Iron Man is ok, and Brand New Day just needs to end.

Don't hate me, but i think Marvel has kinda sold out. Nowadays, they are in it more for the money than the readers.
