I really don't find noob posts bothering me or believe that people are leaving the boards because of them. I think there is a bit of a lack of good discussion of current comics and storylines at times but this place still feels like home.  There have been people who started out that noobish and then later became good posters so I wouldn't want to scare them away if we're trying to grow the board.

You do have to wonder though how people can't figure out the search functions on the front page!

The fact that so many of the members here gave up on or will be giving up on current books is one of the main reasons there is so few discussions. There are really not that many members here when you think about it that post on a regular basis and if a great percentage of them don't even buy new books it leaves discussions to the same small core group of people.

I myself collect a ton of moderns but am so behind on my reading that even if I finally get to a certain book the discussion is long past by than. It's somewhat frustrating to me still to see a comic board where so many people bash COMICS. Even if you read a bad run and dropped a title that doesn't necessarily mean that book is bad forever and not worth picking up. Unfortunately most people drop a book or books and don't even bother checking up on what's going on with it later to see if it has improved in THEIR mind (as other people may have always enjoyed it to some degree).

I still buy moderns but I only get about 10 a month now and combine them with back issue orders from mycomicshop.com to get combined free shipping on my moderns and back issues.

This means I am currently reading April's titles and as the conversion has usually 'moved on' by the time I ge an order - that's why I don't post much about what I have read anymore.

Monthly shipping will always pretty much leave me in that same position.

Well, since I pretty much only read Virgin Comics titles, most people don't read them

I've tried in the past to get discussions going on those, but no one seemed interested.

Right there with ya. Although starting with May's Pre-orders (July's Comics), I've "upgraded" to weekly shipping...so now I'm hoping to only be a week behind

Maybe this was'nt such a good idea in retrospect, and judging by the 4/5 of a star the topic recieved I guess everyone agrees.  Anyways, I believe I posted this after being away from the site for awhile and visiting the grading and comic values and seeing the quality of books and topics take a nose dive from what I remember in the old forum.  First and Foremost I love to read the comics, but the value associated with the things is whats kept me 'collecting' them for a while now.  I remember grading some really key books in the grading sections way back when and am now reduced to grading inferior stuff.  Not that I care what people want help grading, if its not interesting I'll just pass it by...  now where can I request changing my name to FsUkCuKll?
