I say if there is less of a buzz then it's the PERFECT time to be collecting the series/runs...Means people who are selling will probably sell their books for lower prices especially if they want to get rid of them....AND you want the collection so it means more of a chance of socring the issues you want and quite possibly make it easier to get the harder issues as well.
It's perfect timing  Also by the sounds of it you'd be collecting this for a personal stand point so it's even better reason to do so than wait for the 'buzz' if it happens again.

I got lucky about 4 (maybe 5) years ago, i bought issues 33, 39, 41, 44, 46 49 and 51 for about $5 each, (fine to very fine condition except for issue 33,). The following month i picked up 30 daredevil issues between issues 192 and 259 for about $1 each (very fine to near mint condition) not including doubles.
And if that wasn't enough i bought issues 131 for $20 and 168 for $40 (very fine condition, maybe higher). Mind you this was in the Australian dollar.
Out of all my comic investments these where probably my pride and joy.
