Well, 'modern' age comics now cover > 20 years (larger than any other age range)
and at some point, there will have to be the start of a new modern age. My
question is what will the 1986-20xx be called? Tin age? "The age where Marvel
completely killed the collectors market"? Brass age?

Any guesses?

I don't know if 9 years is enough to qualify for an "age", but that does seem to be when comics got REALLY bad, and kind of would make sense as a cut-off point.

I think this came up on the old forums a little while back, and I'll stick to my answer from then:

Given the prevalence of foil covers, variant covers, and other gimmicks to promote conspicuous consumption, and drawing upon the historical term for when conspicuous consumption was the "thing" among the wealthy, just before World War One, I propose we call the period:

The Gilded Age.

I said when the forums were just beginnign that we should pool our collective knowledge of comics and come to a general consensus of what the "ages" are/were.

Nobody jumped on that...

I also said we should start a rumor that New Mutants #83 is worth a lot of money and drive internet sales up.

...sadly, that was swept under the rug too.

The Fuj on censorship...

Seems like Copper is too long. Why does it get almost 20 yrs? Comics from the first half of the 80s were quite different form the 90s comics I hear getting so much disparagement on the boards.
