| I have been collecting for years and I find the different source of values all very confusing. In the end I realize a comic is only really worth what someone is willing to pay for it, but why do Wizard and CPG differ so much? Example: CPG lists Wolverine #145D Nabisco Variant at $504 with a CGC grade of 9.6. It also states that at 9.4 sold for $500 in 2005 and a 9.8 sold for $2100 in 2006. I paid $200 for it(CGC 9.6) at Wizard World Philly over the weekend and Wizard values it at $180. Where do all of these numbers really come from? I started this purely because I want to debate the issue a bit.

| You paid $200 for a slabbed Nabisco in 9.6? You got a great deal. If you are talking about a raw copy in 9.6, then you paid perhaps too much. One thing about CGC values is that they are based on a formula. Actual CGC values for a book would need to be checked on GPAnalysis which tracks sales of slabbed books. The slabbed book values here are estimates based solely on raw value. Not a perfect system, I know.

Whatever you do, don't take CPG's values for modern in CGC grades too seriously. If you can get someone to pay those values, then shake hands with a sucker. Also be careful of Wizard's prices, they have a tendency to lead rather than follow.
For the most part, you pay between 70 and 125 for a raw copy considered NM+, add $50 for a 9.6 and a bit of cash for a 9.8. I don't remember seeing one sell for less than $350.
Where does he get those wonderful toys!

| As the guide says a copy sold in 9.4 sold for $500 in 2005 and a 9.8 sold for $2100 in 2006. Those are actual real life sale prices from ebay and other aution sites. Earl.

The vendor had $250 on it all weekend and I went to hime at the end of the show with 200 cash and he took it.
