Have you just thought of rebuilding your machine? Getting the slate clean and fresh? From your first post your saying it's not just this site with the problem..Rebuild or restoring can do the world to a machine even if it's a big pain in the backside (I plan to do one myself).

defiant1, its not a missing s and the fact that a free proxy server cannot reach the site too should give you a clue. You are so sure the problem is on my end and everything you a Brian have suggested is not the problem so I don't know what else to say. You think I am a dick because I am sure of my answers everyone is sure it is my end but I can tell you it isn't and because it is not my end I am an idiot?

Why would I when I know it is not my machine. Need I remind you that all three of my computers cannot resolve the site? I most certainly not going to rebuild three computer just because I cannot reach two web sites, one of which is not even interested in checking to see if it is an issue at their end so they cop out by blaming the problem on the user.

So lets recap:

Its your LMHOSTS file:

File is clean

Trojan, virus, worm

computer is clean

Namesever is broken/not working try direct IP.

direct IP does not resolve

EXTERNAL free proxy server megaproxy.com also errors out so it is not "just me"

So after that after I have checked and double checked and everything is showing to be fine on my end why would I rebuild? Especially three machines. I have even had my ISP check the router twice at two different times and they can find no issues with it either.

So....? after all that I am the enemy? Nice.

From my point of view, 200 people don't have this problem. Most people do access from two or more locations. That means most likely that 400 or more computers do not have this problem. This is the reasoning as to why why 3 different people believe your three computers are the problem. I gave you three random suggestions. There are hundreds more reasons why your computers are not accessing the site. The next step I'd do is do a traceroute with the IP I gave you above.

I have software to do that. I don't know what is available on the Mac. If the packets don't leave your box, it definitely has nothing to do with the web site. If it gets to a sever on your internet provider and stops, it may be them blocking your packets. If it gets beyond them and stops... it's probably a faulty nameserver. If it gets to the IP and doesn't give you data... then an only then might it be a problem on CPG's side.

We have no idea what software you are using. You could be using adblock software. There could be hundreds of things done that could cause the problem.

For clarification, megaproxy DOES resolve to CPG using the IP number I gave you...

Here is a traceroute

Hop (ms) (ms) (ms) IP Address Host name

It does not resolve using the domain name.

AN ERROR HAS OCCURRED WHILE PROCESSING YOUR REQUEST:

http://www.comicspriceguide.com

PLEASE NOTE THE ERROR DETAILS BELOW:

Megaproxy™ error: Downloading large files is not available on our free service

Please check your spelling. This website may also have moved, shut down, or been restricted by the
Megaproxy™ introductory service.

I'm not buying that the problem is with the site. It looks like Megaproxy may be blocking the site.

Word of advice though, using a password on a proxy is a high security risk for password theft unless you have encryption to an https site.

So as you put it "lets recap"

your the only one having this problem

therefore its somebodys elses computer, not yours.

sorry Ox, doesn't jive.  I understand what you are saying, but from our end it doesn't make sense.

So did you ever try accessing the site directly by the IP address? If so, and it worked, you can add the IP address with the comicspriceguide.com to the hosts file and then it should resolve.

If you can't get to it by the IP address then there is whole different set of issues.
