Havok (5/27/2008) Bid sniping is a load of crap. It's one thing to log on during the last few moments and win the auction, but it's something else to use a program to screw people over. For the record, sniping programs don't "help people make more money if anything they cause sellers to lose money. Sniping programs wait until the last second to bid preventing others from placing more bids. I recently lost an auction I had been winning for 6 days, and was willing to go higher on because of a litteral last second bid through a sniping program. I posted a rant on the board because of it, and quite frankly I think you're a D-Bag for using said programs. I hope e-bay bans the programs/practice, and I'd love to see users of such programs banned as well.Sounds like sour grapes to me... the fact of the matter is anyone can beat your bid by outbidding you A. many days before the auction closes, B. 5 seconds before it closes by bidding manually, or C. 10 seconds before it closes by using a snipe service. It is all about how much you've bid. How are you getting "screwed over" if you havent bid more than the guy who wins? (no matter when you make your bid) You are just sore that you didnt have a chance to outbid him because he uses a robot to bid 10 seconds before the auction closes. If you wanted to win the auction, you should have bid more, instead of bidding too low and hope you get a deal. I bet if you have been outbid in the closing seconds of an auction before, you have also experienced bidding over and over again in small increments trying to win an auction in the last minutes, but you get beat because someone with deep pockets has placed an insurmountable bid days ago... does that piss you off as well? Thanks for calling me a douchebag , but it sounds to me like you are just a sore loser see my above post for why i use the service. It is worth its weight in gold for me if only for the ease of bidding while also living life (and working to finance my collection).

aaight, ive figgered it out. There is a requirement that a seller can choose to only sell to members who have a paypal acct. What you need to do is synchronize your paypal acct with your ebay acct by going to: my ebay /my account/addresses/view all shipping addresses then you will be given the option to link your paypal to your ebay accts. I wish i didn't find this out by being blocked on a bid for a FABLES 6 RRP WHICH SOLD FOR $10 **SCREAMS, THROWS AND BREAKS SHEEIT** My only question is do you really need a Fables book to add to your collection that you have to move soon? Ermm, I would have it shipped to the new address

Lookwhoitis (5/28/2008) I use bidnapper.com sniping service for two reasons:
A. I work weird hours as a freelancer and need to be able to set it and forget it to bid on auctions.
B. it saves me $ from bidding too much on an item in the closing seconds. No chance for an idiotic closing seconds bid that costs you a lot of $$ just to win if you set your max in the original bid and then just let it happen.
and I believe it saves me money in the long run.. there are no "impulse" buys. I set it with the max amount I am willing to pay and if I dont win the auction I try again with a different listing until I do
If I worked a real job I wouldn't win 80% of the auctions I do. I have to set my alarm for times I would normally still be sleeping just to put in my bids in the closing minutes and go back to sleep afterwards. I find when I just put in the max amount I am willing to pay early I NEVER get great deals because someone will bid over and over until he gets to my max. I get all the deals I do by bidding at the last second.

I've done this so many times..Set the alarm clock to get up and bid just before the auction ends...My job allows me to do this. And usually I'm bidding on overseas auctions so they can end at pretty strange hours for me. I will put in my max bid near the last few hours if Ican't be around the pc at the time..if i lose the auction i lose but my max is in there and it's a price i won't go over.

I also think that blaming sniping is pretty wrong...People can be sitting at the auction..I've put in bids at the very last second and i did it by hand prolly had people thinking it was a sniper program. I see the programs as a very handy tool for many people who cannot sit around or don't want too.

I do not use a sniper, but I don't be grudge the people who do. I personally do not like them because I feel like it is cheating, or more to the point, defeating the purpose of the auction itself. In live auctions, you can put in an absentee bid, but you can't say, here only bid this much at a time. Your bid is absolute and finite, if you want to be able to adjust it, you have to be there in person.
Part of the fun is bidding on the last second, but it also makes it that much harder to swallow when you didn't pull the trigger on your max bid just because you wanted to get it on the cheap. I have learned, that if I bid in the last seconds, I bid what I will pay for it and leave it. Makes the heartburn easier to deal with when I know someone paid too much for something.
Well too much in my opinion.
Where does he get those wonderful toys!
I have yet begun to surrender.

I lose more auctions with sniping, but I never pay more than I wanted to in the first place.

I've actually probably lost more by doing that because I sleep through it lol I really don't know why people ever put in bid with 7 days left. People refer to "my max bid is my max bid", but it really doesn't work that way. The only thing bidding early does is inflate the price. Bidding with 5 seconds or less is the best way to do business.
