Why do you like to bash modern comics..Is it the artwork? Is it the storyline? Is it both of them together? Is it they simply don't appeal to you? Or is it etc!?!

I do tend to prefer older disney comics to the ones being published now but still even some of them are in the modern period I guess.

I actually like many modern comics.

If I was to bash them it is for stretching out the story lines and occasional bouts of extreme political correctness. (Oh and the ads in them suck).

I enjoy moderns (they brought me back to collecting just over a year ago). I think my only gripe is the damn x-overs. Nothing like buying 3 or more (generally more) books to get one story.

Except for this, I say, "Live In The Now!"
unless your now is actually 20 yrs. ago, and the actual timeline from start to finish of every hero/character is only a year, maybe two from their creation, which in real time, maybe as long as 70+ yrs. ago...oh, and the dimensions/other earths/new universes etc. etc. etc.....

Ohhhhhh! I thought it said "moderns"....In that case, I love the "moders", they do a great job.

"Psychos do not explode when sunlight hits them...I don't give a fu-- how crazy they are."

Moderns are the best comics ever made. (The quality ones, anyways..you know which ones I mean..lol)...Story and artwise...

People just bash them cause they're not worth anything, and comic collecting is mostly an investment hobby.

Don't get me wrong though, i still love the old stuff cause they're fun reads...but the stories don't compare to todays stuff.

There have been some awesome storylines that come solely from Modern comics, like Planet Hulk, Watchmen, Sin City, Hush, The Long Halloween, The first arc from Astonishing X-Men, and countless others. The problem with Moderns is there are so many out there that good or great stories get muddied in a the waters with all the dreck that passes for writing these days. There are some writers who doesn't matter what book they are on, people read it because they know it will be good stuff, but sometimes the art can kill a good story or the reverse. It happens too often, so it comes down with all that is available it takes a special combination of story and pictures to make it truly memorable.

Where does he get those wonderful toys!

I have yet begun to surrender.

I agree about the cost of the books, $2.99 for a comic book is getting to be too much. When I started reading comics, the cover price was 12 cents. I remember ( I sound like a old fart) when comics went up to 75 cents per book and I gave them up but after awhile, I came back to the hobby. I'm happy that the artists and writers are being paid better than in the past but $4. or $5. for one comic book will be where I cut way back on my buying habit!
