Robbie (11/4/2009)
Took Diamond two business days to respond to my note.

...sorry for the problem. We will be sending out a new one as soon as we can...
...Please keep the one you received as a thank you for your trouble....

Well if that don't beat all,

Them boys got sand. Really classy. I guess the shipping cost is worth dealing with people that got standards.

Congratulations Robbie. You're a good hand; you deserve to win that one. You didn't even get all beer and skittles about it.

TEX

Thanks Tex,
And I've been wanting one of these for 20+ years, this was the cheapest price I've seen and now I'll be havin' three copies

I'll try to add some interior pix soonish... Spoiler Alert: Dagwood is able to split the U235 with some help from Mandrake the Magician

Dang. Even I can't wait like that. You're a real collector Robbie. In our hobby, patience is definitely a virtue.

Mandrake and Dagwood? Count me in hoss!! I'll be simmerin' for them pics.

Somebody on the web has already posted Learn How Dagwood Splits the Atom (link) (Harvey comics 1949) the pix blow up big enough to read... It's pretty dang cool - check it out, if you care (and I'm not going to flatten my comic to scan it - that's bad for the spine, ya know.)

BoingBoing claims it was included in the Gilbert U-238 Atomic Energy Lab (1950-51), which includes a real piece of U-238. Maybe true, since the comic is c 1949 that'd mean Gilbert got some overstock from Harvey, doesn't explain the mailing envelope. (A minty Atomic Energy Lab would sell for around $5K, they are super scare in any condition, and it's a safe bet that nothing like that will ever be made again as a child's toy.

Thanks for posting that Robbie,

Dagwood and Mandrake splittin' the atom. Who'da thunk it? That's a nice big scan too.

Uranium-bearing ore samples in a child's toy, eh? They can hardly play at recess now-a-days. Someone would cry foul at that.

Hey folks!

What's up? I had an extremely eventful day. So much so that I took refuge on this page several times to keep myself cool.

I love it here. Don't you?

I got some uber cool pickins in today cowpokes. Yep. I still can't kin that I paid next to nothin' for these comics. Check it:

Venom LP

1st up, it's Venom Lethal Protector #1-6. Full run. I have never read this series, and never wanted to...but I'll give her a go.

Finally:

This is the primary reason that I bought this lot of comics:

Wolverine1

That's it! A crispedy-creamedy copy of Wolverine #1. I have wanted to buy this comic for many moons, but TEX wasn't paying more that $13. Yep. You heard me. I actually bought it once before but the seller packaged it incorrectly and back it went lickety-GD-split. This comic features the 1st app of Wolverine's Patch character.

For all these comics (Venom: Lethal Protector 1-6, the Destroyer 1-4, and Wolverine #1 I paid: $5.99!!! That's right! $5.99!!

Uh-huh. Say it with me. Dam# it feels good to be a gangsta.

ENJOY!!
