Dan Fogel, Patrick Rosenkranz and myself are collaborating on a new Snatch Comics anthology book that will be published in a couple months. The book will be printed slightly larger than the original 5x7 inch size and feature every page from the three issues of Snatch Comics. Rosenkranz is writing a sweet article on the historical significance of the original publications, as well as a passionate tribute to Don Donahue, who published the seminal (and semen-soaked) comic books. Our own 50centII is also contributing an article chronicling the various print editions of the books, which is sure to please many hardcore collectors.

I designed the covers for the book as well as the interior pages, which will include nifty fold-out pages (7x10") for the three original center spreads, as well as fold-outs for S. Clay Wilson's "mates" cartoon (from Snatch #1, which was originally a two-page spread in the first printing) and Rory Hayes' "juices" cartoon (from Snatch #2, which will include the red, green and rainbow-colored juices!). This deluxe, square-bound book will feature a 16-page color section at the beginning (including reproductions of the original front and back covers), followed by 108 pages of glorious black and white underground smut.

The book will retail for $19.95 and will be distributed by Diamond Comic Distributors to many LCSs. In addition to the regular edition, there will be two signed and numbered limited editions of the book, which will be sold for $49.95 a copy. One set (of 250 books) will be signed by Robert Crumb and another set (of 250 books) will be signed by S. Clay Wilson. That is, if S. Clay Wilson is up to the task of signing that number of books, given his recent health issues. Whether Wilson is able to sign or not, Robert Williams and Victor Moscoso may also be signing Wilson's limited edition bookplates (to be determined).

S. Clay Wilson is the primary benefactor of this project. A significant portion of the book's proceeds will be given to the S. Clay Wilson Trust Fund, which has been set up to help Wilson with his medical expenses. Just yesterday, Robert Crumb volunteered to donate every penny of his usual licensing fees for this book to the Wilson Trust Fund.

I hope you all will stay tuned for the release date of this book in order to purchase a copy or two for yourselves. If you'd like, I will be happy to accept orders via private message and forward them on to Dan, who will be touring several conventions to peddle the book. We haven't figured out the shipping costs for anything yet, but if you are interested you can let me know and I will get back to you via PM.

Needless to say, we expect a very quick sellout of the signed and numbered limited editions. Getting any comic book with a genuine Crumb signature for $50 would be considered a bargain in most circles. Imagine getting a first printing of a deluxe Snatch Comics anthology with Crumb's signature for $50. Hell, I'll be getting one Crumb copy for free, but I won't hesitate to buy two or three more at that price. And Wilson's limited edition is pretty awesome, too, considering that this will almost certainly be the last comic book title that Wilson is able to sign.

So cum one, cum all, cum buy a copy or three for the benefit of S. Clay Wilson.

Just reread the original post and see it's coming in a couple of months, so does this mean it could be available at Wondercon, as I know Mr. Fogel is there in some capacity every year? Is it actually at the printer or on it's way and will the Ltd.Ed's be hardcover or trade paperback? Good luck and put me down for one of each...I've sent you a pm. Thanks for an excellent announcement!

I'll be there with 2 or 3 booths shared with Carnal Comics & Tommy Vernale. Both versions will be identical softcovers, the ltd. has the signed plate.
Reg edition fer shure premiering at Adultcon March 25, followed by WonderCon the following week.
Ltd.'s release depending on speed of shipping, sigs & assembly. It'll be out when it's out & exclusive from us, no wholesaling.
Diamond solicit reg. edition for May, will ship to them early in April.
We're buying the color front cover ad of Adult Previews for it!

Thanx for interest & I'll let you know when we start pre-sellin' Snatch!

Dan,
Thanks for the info and welcome to the board, finally! Was always curious as to whether you monitored the goings on here, and if so why you didn't chime in now and again. Glad you made it and good luck with the book.  By the way, what are you using as the source material for the reproduction in the book? Any of the original art coming into play?  How might it compare to the Snatch Sampler, for instance? Thanks again!

Thanks for the welcome! We're using remastered scans from the books themselves, tweaked by the masterful over40artist!
We're reprinting all 3 issues, whereas the Sampler only had some Snatch strips with some from J*z & F*lch (If this goes well, we'd love to do a similar tpb for those two plus C*nt Comics).

I discussed pre-sales with my partners, and we're planning on having that set up by February! However, there will be no early-bird discounting as this is a benefit for Wilson!

WTTB Dan!  Sounds like a sweet production.

50, guessing Pork is being omitted because Hippy comix already did a reprint not too long ago.

Looking forward to picking up a copy or two of this!

FYI here's my precision-crafted Diamond solicitation paragraph:

"Dan Fogel and Fly Dragon Studios present the Snatch Comics Treasury! After creating Zap Comix in 1968, Crumb teamed up with Wilson, Williams, Hayes, Moscoso, Osborne, Griffin and Spain to create three best-selling issues of Snatch Comics. Controversial, incendiary, and erotically satirical, the first and greatest smut comix are now completely collected and digitally remastered, with commentary by Patrick (Rebel Visions) Rosenkranz!"
