DeadOne (9/27/2008) You should at least respond to the negative feedback so other potentials see that you are on top of things (It would make a difference to someone like me at least). I feel real bad for you King, this type of thing shouldn't happen. You're situation is just as bad. I'd probably refund the shipping cost just to shut him up. Kind of a "cost of doing business" just like theft or any other damages outside of your control. I hope yours goes better than mine did.

Thanks. I get a feeling from this guy that he still might not be satisfied with the $4.00 refund...just from past correspondence his feedback doesn't show it though...it's weird. I'm hoping ebay gets back to me before the end of the weekend. I'm hoping that the fact that it is a weekend buys me time before he leaves the negative...I've yet to respond back to this buyer.

DeadOne (9/27/2008) So, I might be facing my first negative feedback and I need some opinions:
A buyer paid $51.99 +$4.00 shipping for a comic I sold a few weeks ago. He wasn't satisfied, I gave a refund (of $51.99)the day I received it back. My auctions clearly state in the return policy section that I do not refund shipping charges and that the buyer must pay to return the comic to me. Now he has emailed me and said,
"Got the partial refund, I'll be posting negative feedback for "item not as described" if I don't get a full refund (+shipping) or positive feedback if it's really a honest mistake and I do. Thanks"
If I'm not mistaken, isn't this against ebay policy to use the threat of negative feedback in this manner? I've already contacted ebay about this and I am awaiting their reply. I know it's only $4.00, but I'm not refunding that money, negative or not. Any thoughts?
Just a thought...If you don't refund the shipping will he simply not resend you the books? Since he may think he's out of pocket for the shipping? I know that sounds dumb and you've got it clearly stated in your auctions you don't refund shipping (I don't blame you either for this)...I'm just thinking about it since he seems to be a pest :/

Set 0ne (9/27/2008)Just a thought...If you don't refund the shipping will he simply not resend you the books? Since he may think he's out of pocket for the shipping? He has returned the book to me already with full knowledge that I would only refund him the $51.99 purchase price. When I received the book I refunded him the same day and then he said he wanted the full amount (shipping and purchase price) or he would leave me negative feedback. I'm almost certain that if I refunded him the $4.00 for shipping he would then want the amount he paid for shipping the comic back to me. I'm going to let ebay handle it...for now.

aarondawe (9/27/2008) Stand your ground. If it wasn't part of the terms and they have threatened, you have a good case.
I agree but I wouldn't count on Ebay for much help...what was the outcome?....D

Being a buyer only, I don't fear the feedback. My job is to bid, win, pay, and be happy. I've negged a seller only because he was doing business the wrong way; see the 'comicninjarich' thread. Haven't gotten negative feedback in 18 wins so far. If you're doing things the right way, you've got nothing to worry about.

One thing that alarms me though, is that buyers/bidders who do not pay or respond to winning bids, can not be left negative feedback, and when you leave feedback on them, it is automatically positive feedback. Then they can come back and leave you negative feedback that is un-retractable, and they did not even complete the sale. Something definately wrong with the system there.
