So if you thought it was fine then why neg him?....doesn't make a lot of sense to me...like I said I think you would have acted differently had he been able to neg you back..DAnd this is perhaps why eBay changed the rules for negative feedback from sellers (to stop unscrupulous sellers from defending or hiding their debatable practices).

Look I'm not trying to defend the guy because he was obviously trying to circumvent Ebay's policy....but this new change doesn't really help things at all...now buyers are just going to be leaving knee jerk negatives for sellers. Although I think Set one at least tried to work it out before he left his neg...I pretty sure had he not known he couldn't get negged back he might have tried a bit more to work it out...D

Uh, I'm a girl  And I did try and work it out with the seller like I said..And they were only willing to give me any money back IF I removed my neg...Otherwise they were not willing to work out anything at all with me..So I did infact neg them because I couldn't sort things out when I had tried.
I will not outright neg a person unless really needed. I thought in this case it was justified..I was thinking of leaving a neut because I was unhappy with what had happened with exessive shipping..BUT when the guy wasn't willing to reason it really left a sour taste in my mouth..hence the neg.
