I was just going through my Flash collection, to see which of the issues that have been sitting in my folks' attic for 20+ years are so beat up that I'd consider getting replacements (turns out there aren't too many of them happily). Anyway, I ran across the fellow below, The Flash #241. I have vivid memories of buying it in the little comic store I used to frequent in Cambridge, MA. It was probably 1980 or '81 and they had it hanging on the wall, maybe going for $1. Something about it enthralled me. I think it was the bright yellow in the cover. I begged my mom to let me get it, and while she professed shock at the high price, I managed to finagle a purchase.
Anyone else remember their first back issue buy? Sill got it? Still love it?

| LOL. I have a great one. I remember my first back issue buy. It was a Thor #337, first appearance of Beta Ray Bill. NM value in the price guide is $8.00 I paid $16.00 for it back in the late 80's (not sure exactly which year). It's a solid 9.0. I was an investment genius. Oh, and of course I still have it.

Thor movie next year http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0800369/ - way to beat the rush My 1st over $5 comic (late 70s) was a minty (9.0-9.2) Howard the Duck #1 for $20 (Still have it, and a few extra that I paid way less for, and a 12p variant.). (Birthday money) I spend at least 1/2 hr drooling over the comics in the case, trying to decide between the Duck and an equally minty Uncanny X-Men #100.

First back issue: Amazing Spider-Man annual #21. Cost me 10 bucks back in '91 or '92. I think it came out in '87. And yes I still have it, with the picture to prove it.
----------------
Someone: "So I hear you collect Spider-Man comics."
Me: "Yep."
Someone: "Well I happen to have Amazing Spider-Man #92"
Me: "I have #1"
Someone: ".......oh."
It's those little victories that make life worth living.
