It wouldn't take very much demand to far outstrip the supply.<br><br>His hoard of Indian artifacts has seen a much better ROI than his UG hoard.<br>In the early 90s, clueless people were hoarding cases of new comics, mostly those aren't even worth wholesale. The smart money was going after high grade key, mainstream, gold and silver.

RE: You've heard the rumors of Chuck hording Undergrounds?

That's been my problem with UG since I started buying them as a snot-nosed kid. I realized pretty soon after ordering what sounded like really cool comix from the illicit Last Gasp catalog that fell into my hands (roughly 1973-74), that most were poorly drawn, badly written and made no sense behind kind of cool covers. I quickly found some artists I liked, kind of the way I collected regular comics in that era like Wrightson, Adams, Steranko, and pursued all the books I could with material featuring Crumb, Irons, Corben, Jaxon, Shelton, Rick Griffin, and a few others, but for the most part lost my interest in the bulk of what was being produced at that time and after. The FUG and Kennedy reflects that, and when I bought Kennedy upon it's publication, I saw my tastes pretty much reflected in what was deemed valuable at the time. Any update today would just be, in my opinion, an exercise in curiosity to see what's going on in the prices realized-auction world. But again, what do I know, I pretty much stopped pursuing this stuff awhile ago, but every once in awhile an opportunity does arise.....

RE: You've heard the rumors of Chuck hording Undergrounds?

Owed, no doubt, to the hundreds upon hundreds of porn comics which, as far as I'm concerned, will always remain in the "worthless" category.

RE: You've heard the rumors of Chuck hording Undergrounds?

i once asked Chuck what happens to all the undergrounds in the collections he buys & he basically said "i am not going to sell Corbens for $4 when they are worth more than that."<br><br>interestingly, i recently heard a critique of the FUG that went something like this. according to the FUG 90% of the titles/issues listed within are worth $10 or less. there are perhaps only 25-30 books in the whole Guide that are worth $250 or more (or about $100 in any grade). the question was simple... why do you need an updated guide if is only going to state that 90% of the titles/issues within are worthless?<br><br>perhaps Mile High Chuck is seeing the same thing? :dontknow:

RE: You've heard the rumors of Chuck hording Undergrounds?

Well, Shadow, for something UG she should be perhaps bent over a sink and enjoying a bukkake or having a train pulled on her or something of that type rather than posing for something that's about as risque as the cover of GQ, or Vanity Fair. I'm for a cover that either is drawn by a UG artist or just features a collage of old UG's without the frau. It's kind of tawdry but I'm not sure it's UG as it is. But hey, I'm no expert, just someone who cringes every time he pulls the book off the shelf, but I guess that's just the critical Snoid in me poo-poohing somebody else's hard work.....Oy!

RE: You've heard the rumors of Chuck hording Undergrounds?

Hmmm...but oh, how so appropriate for something "underground"....:D

RE: You've heard the rumors of Chuck hording Undergrounds?

Oh her....my wife thinks that's the worst idea for book cover ever, and she's in the business. One of the reasons I hardly pull it off the shelf, and opt for the Kennedy Guide instead.....As a guy I met at APE last week said about it while rifling through a dealer's goods, "no wonder comic book collectors are laughed at with scorn and derision....." but I'm sure it's been discussed elsewhere....

RE: You've heard the rumors of Chuck hording Undergrounds?

Teri W. is the woman on the cover of the FUG.</P><P>

RE: You've heard the rumors of Chuck hording Undergrounds?

Terry Weigel???

RE: You've heard the rumors of Chuck hording Undergrounds?

While I am not a deep friend of Chuck, we are on friendly terms and have talked to each other at cons across the country for over 30 years. He has a stash of ugs. I think a lot. I would have to see them, but from our shooting the breeze, he has mucho ugs. He puts them away and doesn't sell them when he gets them. What can I say, like all of us, ugs are something he likes.

RE: You've heard the rumors of Chuck hording Undergrounds?

....and Chuck is probably hoarding good stuff!
