yep, definitely some kind of error. If you click on the listing itself, you will see that "Best Offer" is nowhere in sight. Usually with accepted best offers, you see what the initial price was and also what the offer accepted was. Not really a big deal either way. I think the few times I've tried Best Offer, I've always been rejected.

great point & i am in complete agreement. patience seems to be a virtue ESPECIALLY w/ u-comix. there are so many little loopholes that the savvy buyer can exploit... abebooks, mature audiences (eBay), mis-listings, the current economic situation, etc. a lot of buyers simply do not know what they have... whether it be the overpriced reprints (avoid) or NM buy it now 1st printings (cha-ching). and even though we end up competing w/ eachother sometimes... boards like this make us even more savvy.[/quote]

To pick up on that thought, I landed an Air Pirates # 2 back a few years from someone selling what they thought were Disney comics.:D

Yea Brother J , I was thrilled at the time because I had been outbid many times over the years on both of those titles. I'm just an old hippy that hates to pay a lot for comix . I almost always get what I want at a great price by being patient especially on Ebay. You should have seen me spinning around the room when I snatched a nice copy of "Goose Lake Gags" for $4.00. Now that was "Party Time". Break out the stash !!!!! Patience is a Virtue :woot2:

Hi BrotherJ, The Stewel comix were a nice score . You don't see either of them come up often. The "Eternal Truth" comes up a few times a year. I have seen it maybe a dozen times on Ebay in last 6 years. I snatched NM copies of "Eternal Truth" & Sammy Saved" both from "Sonday Funnies" about 6 months ago for $1.99 each. on Ebay. Yeah, I knew about the record thing, but I assumed they had the same cover. Here's the cover of the "non-record" version:

Weird that this book came out in 1995, not sure if it had much to do with the earlier Barbarian Women issues. Any info on this?

Wow, it was like Christmas today when the mailman arrived. I received no less than five packages of comic books in the mail today. Lots of good stuff. Here's what I added:

eBay seller #1: Spiffy Stories (a HIGH grade copy of this book, the seller graded it MINT, which nothing actually is, but it would probably grade a solid VF/NM, tough one to get in high grade)

eBay seller #2: Slow Death Funnies #1 (2nd print) I bought this because it was an unusual color variant. I believe some of the black is missing in the art. Not in the greatest condition, but I enjoy books with printing goofups.

Mile High Comics: Tales of Jerry #5, 6, 7, 8, and 9. All VF condition, the price was right and I was able to use one of their "codewords".

Donahue catalog order: All great looking high grade stuff, even the books that Don knocks down to VF look NM to me. Here's what I got:

All Duck, Barbarian Women Comix #3, Changes (mini), Dr. Atomic #5, The Dying Dolphin, Flamed-Out Funnies #1, Inner City Romance #1, Left-Field Funnies, More Comics (mini), Paper Tales #1, Psychotic Adventures #1, Road Kill (Gary Panter mini), Two-Fisted Zombies, Wimmen's Comix #6, Yuckamobe

BTW, the Barbarian Women Comix #3 I received has a different cover than the one in the underground wiki, so apparently there were two covers.

Think of it as a sign of our times. He's famous and got a mil or 2 for the movie rights. He was in a wellchair and selling 2 types of t-shirts. the first with his picture and the second with a slogan telling people to stay in school, avoid violence and stay off drugs. His booth was always crowded (had an American gangster poster in the back). There were even 3 old (and I do mean old like from the 60s or 70s) playboy bunnies who hugged him and said nice thing to him. An actress even came over for a hug. He was with his wife and I guess kids. I felt it was weird but typical of Mike Carbinaro However, but the movie glamorization was what is really the bad thing. Denzel, the cool street thug.

I'm trying to figure out why anyone would want this guy at their con, and why anyone would want to talk to him or get his autograph. The guy's basically an ex-con that had a movie made based on his life. Is there something redeeming about the guy that I don't know?

My purchases. 3 copies of the Max Sampler with the Corben Punisher cover (gave one away to my friend Manny), vol 1 and 2 of the Marvel Zombies HCs for my son, the latest Batman Black and White statue for my wife, and 3 mid 80s fanzines for $2.50. Nothing else. The ugs that the guy had were run of the mill, my $5 and $10 box stuff, and nobody else seemed to have anything. (Oh yeah, got the new Obama Comic as a present from Gary). Again, I went there to see Gary and other friends. The funny thing was that Gary was set up next to Frank Lucas and didn't even know who he was.

Yep, that would explain why I missed you. I got there after 12:00 on Saturday, so you were already gone. I took the later train in Saturday morning, because the earlier one was almost $25 more. Did you buy some items from the dealer with the Scratchez? He mentioned he had a lot more, but someone had bought a bunch of items and then later came back for more. I figured I probably missed out on a lot of good stuff, which is why I usually like to get to shows the first day they open, not several hours into the second day. Next time I will definitely let you know when I am going to be in NYC, this trip was so last minute, a lot of things didn't go the way they would have if I had had more time to prepare. My next trip may be in February at the Javits show.

Anyway, I went to the Big Apple Con in NYC on Saturday. It was all last minute, so I really didn't have a lot of time to prepare. I was hoping the Good Dr. might be there as I believe he mentioned he was at Gary Dolgoff's table last year, but I didn't see him. Did you attend the show, Doc? Anyone else?

There were absolutely no underground comix guests, so that was a disappointment. I did manage to find a few dealers with undergrounds. Motor City Comics was there, and I enjoyed rooting through their undergrounds, but the things I could afford, I wasn't interested in and the things I was interested in, I couldn't afford and/or didn't think it was worth it. Personally, I think their stuff is massively overpriced.

I also found another dealer with a nice selection of undergrounds, and these were priced very friendly. I pulled a huge stack out and then had the dealer help me remove them from their bags so I could inspect them and check to verify which printings we were dealing with. I put many of them back, but bought a good sized stack for $60. Here's what I picked up:

Scratchez #1 and #3 (these are pretty tough to come by, if I remember correctly)

That's good, though it's a shame about the condition. They seem like a pretty good seller to work with. One time I got a bit frustrated because a package they sent via media mail took about a month to arrive, but it was the Post Office's fault, not theirs. They mailed it right after I paid.

Speaking of recent acquisitions, thanks for posting here because it reminded me. :D

Thanks BroJ, yep the 1st print seems a very hard find as I think I've only seen 1 copy of the 1st print (has a thick stock white cover and pink guts) for sale since I started collecting almost 2 years ago.[/quote]
