Determining Missing Cover Scans

Is there an easier way than going through hundreds of comics to determine if there are cover scans that CPG needs that we have in our collection? I want to keep the site up-to-date. Is there a way or a link that will tell us what covers are needed from our collection?

For example, let's say I have Cat-Chick #2 (Wu-Tang Clan Comics) from 1993 in my collection and CPG does not have a cover scan for it. Is there an easier way than having to go back through all of my comic lists to find out?

This way I can simply pull the comics that you need and begin scanning away.

Mobile CPG Apps

I know that the Allen Groupe created an iPhone app for CPG members. I am not sure on the affiliation, but are there any plans on making an app for the Android 2.0 platform from Google?

I just picked up the new Motorola Droid this past weekend, and since the platform is opensource, the app library is going to explode. I can view the CPG site thru its browser, but a custom app would be SO much easier to see what I have, what I need, AND the going price -- which is vital and desperately missing from all of CPGs current printable checklists.

I would love to finally get rid of my custom printed checklists and cost conversion sheet....

Timing out on title searches

I just registered my membership to try and update the value of my collection. Cannot access large title files like "Action Comics". Get a time-out error. Small files for limited run titles not a problem. Is this a "my problem" or a "your problem". (Ultimately, I guess everything is a "my problem" if I can't get the info I need, huh? ;) Scanned the forums but didn't catch a post for this prob. Thanks for an assist.

Everything on the front cover is the same; except for what I stated above and the 10 cent is crossed out on mine and says "FREE" on my cover.

Okay....here's the facts to date...

Some people can't stay logged in...
Some people have no problem with it and aren't being involuntarily logged-out...

If it was just individual computers with a conflict...the suggestions given to date would have had some effect...
If it was inherent to the forum programming...it would be happening to everyone...not just half the members...
So it could be a combination of both! :w00t: Welcome to every computer geeks' nightmare!...

I've searched the web and found one and two year old references to people loading this forum software and having a similar problem...I've got emails into all of the webmasters to find out how or if they fixed the problem...When they reply you'll be the first to know...

Bryan is in contact with the forum software developers and they are looking at different cookie programming options to see where the conflict may be...this may take a while to work through the options....

It's not just this forum software...;)
In searching the web I found instances of similar problems with every forum software program available...:w00t:
Some of them had solutions...unfortunately, none of the solutions have been for the same programming platform that this software is built on...so far...

While we are hammerin' at this thing, any suggestions or web/forum experiences you may be familiar with would be most appreciated! Any additional info searches you come up with that apply would be taken under serious consideration...:cool:

So far I've used a generic "keep getting logged off the forum" search in Google to come up with what we know so far...but if we spread out there like an army of ants...maybe....:hmmmm:

BONUS! If you come up with the solution/a link to the solution before Bryan discovers it...:D...I'll give you a three (3) year premium membership to the site...;)

So I have been posting my comics on comicspriceguide.com to sell and I came to a snag at the end of the process. I have several more long boxes that I have not added and honestly I hesitate to do any further business with comicspriceguide.com. I love the interface and it is very easy to use however this is my problem. When you reach the end of a listing it requires you to list how you would like to receive payments. I would like to use paypal, but I have no idea what I need to put in the box so that people can pay me for the amount of whatever it is that they are buying from me. I suppose Ebay's interface has spoiled me, but if anybody can help I would be very thankful.

Does this happen to you guys? I just added Uncanny X-Men #139 9.2 grade to my X-Men list. Well the price is 48.00 but when I added it comes out to 50.60. And this happens a lot with the books I own and add.

The prices never match up.

Maybe this is the reason why when I look at MY COllection the total value never matches the total value that is posted on the upper left hand corner.

Anyone have the same problem?

When I was in Silver Surfer (v3) the annual don't have a picture but there is not way to add them. I also came across it in the Azm Spider_man GS#1. How can I add them?

Don't know where to post this, but I've noticed that the main page of the CPG doesn't really change. The top 10 hot back issues don't change either.

I've sent an e-mail as well offering to help with market research as well as stories or even spotlight comic issues. I've heard nothing yet.

Also, it seems like prices don't change too much. Is this site more like Overstreet where prices only change every year?

I'm just rambling, but if someone from CPG can respond? Thanks.

Under publisher Image, G.I. Joe v. Transformers (2003) you list a #6 and #6A. The first problem is that the screen shot associated with listing #6 should for for #6A. Second problem is there is a missing entry for cover #6B. There should be just 2 entries for issue #6, a #6A and a #6B, there is no just #6 (to my knowledge).

I am getting the following error message when I try to add to my collection:

I recieved a few emails that someone is interested in buying some comics, however when i log into comicpirceguide.com, i cant seem to find out who this person is, how to contact them, or how to agree to sell to them. I clicked through every option, clicked on the comics in question in my collection - but no clue as to who wants to buy these - please help!

So I registered, but I still get that message. Are the forum and the pricing section two different things? Or am I just missing something? Thanks.

1. When members post comics for sale, do we grade them ourselves on the honor system, or do we need to have a third party do the grading?

2. I read that I should be able to exchange instant messages with other members, but I don't see how. Can anyone tell me?

(In case it matters, I am a free member, not a premium member.)

Hey,

I'm having some trouble. Every time I try to post a question with pictures I get this error message.

The following error occurred...

The board administrator has requested that you must provide some message content within your post. You cannot post only HTML, Images, EmotIcons or IFCode.

It doesn't make any sense, as there is plenty of text in the post as well as the cover scans. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

Where do I renew my CPG account?

I just noticed that my original email from Bryan (following my signing up for the preferred account on CPG) was in May of 2008. I cannot remember if I had my CPG account auto-renew or not. I cannot find anywhere on the CPG website where I can find the status of my account or renew the account. I have not received any email notifications indicating that my account has expired, but I want to be sure everything is okay.

Since I have around 18,000 comics entered already, I do not want to allow this account to expire. Please advise me on how to check my account status and how to renew the account (i.e. where is the link?) if I need to.

I just got this error message when I went to add a book:

I have read your info on cancelling a subscription through PayPal. It is identical to PayPal's info on cancelling a subsciption. The problem is there is no subscription link under History despite both websites pointing to it. OF course, my card is still being charged each month. Paypal refers me to you and you refer me to PayPal. Any chance someone here can help me get rid of this invisible subscription that costs me money every month? Thanks. I suppose I could change banks, but that seems like a hard way to do what should be a simple thing.

Unable to add comics in bulk

Okay, here's one of the problems that we're having with a Premium membership...

How do I add comics in bulk to a box?

Example:

Let's say i've got a box I created called dark horse 1......Now in that box, I want to put all my DH Alien comics...........I've added all the Aliens comics I have to my "collection", but once there, is there a way to add them all into the Dark Horse 1 box? Or do I actually have to go through one by one, title by title, issue by issue and add them that way? Because that way takes forever.

I would like to add multiple titles to a long box at once.

Is there a limit to the # of comics I can add w/ a Premium Membership?

I am really underwhelmed with the CPG website and find it a waste of money, and I emailed the owners or whoever they are to switch my one year to a one month or just cancel the whole damn thing, and surprise surprise, not one god damn reply from them. What's the story? Maybe one of them read these posts in the forums and can do something?

I think the forums here a great, but what am I paying $50 a year for when the owners who gladly take my money and don't even have the curtesy to reply to me.

Q: Are separate registrations required for CPG and the Boards?

What is the rationale for not having one global registration applicable to all of the CPG website instead of separate registrations/activations for the price guide section and the forums section?

A while back I became a member via CPG 2.0 to see if there were any improvements in the price guide spreads compared to version 1.0. In the process I discovered an error in version 2.0 and decided to report the error in the CPG Beta Q&A forum which is the forum that we are directed to from the link in CPG 1.0.

Now since I was already logged on in the main CPG site I intuitively thought that my logged on status would accompany me over to the forum. Well, that`s not the case.

When I tried to post my report I was instructed to login or register first. So I entered my login/pass info again but was informed that it wasn`t in the database. So I assumed that I needed to wait a couple of days for every facet of the system to be updated. Nope. Several days, weeks later, I still couldn`t login to post the error report in the forum.

I considered registering a second time but the Rules posting says not to register multiple accounts. I fired off an email to Shadow asking what's the procedure but never received any feedback from him. (Reminded me of the time years back when I sent an email report to Bryan and never heard back from him either.) :)

Well, this week I bit the bullet and registered/activated a separate account for the forums section so that I can report the error that I had discovered months ago to the CPG Beta Q&A forum.

Quite the ordeal just to provide some feedback. If it is feasible, Bryan, you should consider creating a bug reporting forum, like CPG Beta, open for posting messages by everyone, including unregistered guests. Just a thought.

Now onwards to my next post at hand...

Missing Issue Forum

Site Logging you out problems? TRY THIS!!

I've got a bunch of steps for people to follow if you're getting issues with Fire Fox. I'm guessing you can still do the same things within IE or Opera but this ha just been trialed through FireFox and so far it's worked for me wonderfully. As I was getting logged out everytime I came to visit the forum.

I've made the highlighted in RED and numbered the steps with screenshots.

First Step-

Third up to Eight Step-
This is getting rid of all the cookies that 'Deleting Forum Cookies' won't get rid of.

OPTIONAL but important IF you have FF remember your password for this forum!
Ninth up to Thirteen Step-

Step 11 you simply type in comicspriceguide.com and search for the forum username and password...DELETE IT!

Final steps-

a) Close Fire Fox
b) Reopen browser
c) Come back to CPG forum
d) Sign in with username and password
e) [b]DO NOT[/b] allow FireFox to remember your password for this forum.
f) Make sure you click ' Remember Me? - Automatically login on future visits.' as this is different from FireFox remembering it.

Since doing this I haven't had a single problem with being logged out! I'd recommend this a try atleast.

For those who cannot view pictures-

1) Used Delete Cookies on CPG forum
2) Manually deleted all the extra cookies in Firefox in the Privacy area
3) Deleted my CPG forum password from my FF browser (I had it remember it)
4) Shut down browser
5) Went to CPG forum and retyped my log in name and password
6) Ticked the 'remember me' on the CPG forum
7) DIDN'T allow FF to remember my password for the site
8) Browsed/Posted on the forum but also opened and closed the browser a lot to see if the CPG forum would remember my account.

Title pretty much says it all - I have plugged in the correct url for my Tar Heel av, and on my Control Panel page, it shows the correct image, but out in the forum, it's still my old Cyclops.

Adding CGC books to collections

database error in CPG 1.0

I get the following error when I try to get into CPG 1.0:

Type mismatch
/default.asp, line 399

I get this error in various places, with some variations. Also, I get reports with a correct issue count but a value of $0. I may not have the best collection in the world, but it's gotta be worth more than that!

Downloading Excel Comic Lists
