Remember "Phone Cards"...

There were special binders and price lists...and they were touted as the best thing since baseball cards...:D

Or "Pogs"...which were a variation of the old milk bottle caps...again they designed special Ultra Pro pages...though I don't recall any priceguides...:hmmmm:

Any stories of being among those collectors? :D

Or can you think of any other fads that never quite took hold?...:hmmmm:

I'll start with this. It isn't really a collectible or anything because I made it. It's about 8.5" inches tall, made of photosensitive resin. I created the 3D model and printed it off on our 3D printer at work. It took the machine 35 hours to construct. I'm currently working on some Bebop and Rocksteady figures.

First up. the first action figures I bought from my LCS they are the Marvel Select Wolverine: Regular and the Variant

Next I have two sets of the NECA tmnt action figures which I love!!!! I have a set of black and whit ones and a set in color with custom colored masks. The guy who I bought them off painted their masks like they have in the cartoon. I think they're really cool like that. I plan on getting a black and white set in the box and two sets of the regular ones with their red masks and i''l open one and keep the others in the box.

The last but not least my 1988 TMNT action figures with the original 3.99 target price tags! LOL I couldnt believe I got these. My great grandmother bought these for me when I was a couple months old. When I went over the other day I was telling her about some of the Turtle comics I found online and she said you know what son I got something for you that I forgot i had. LOL She got in her cedar chest and pulled these suckers out and I was stoked! I'm only missing three Shredder, Bebop, and rocksteady. Thes are all from the first batch that came out. They've recently remade these this year and they go for like 13 bucks a piece. I'm glad I got these!!

Vinyl Figures

Ok, so I picked up my first "Vinyl Figure" yesterday, by all means not trulely "designer" by any means. It's the Megatron Mighty Muggs figure, got it from Target for 7.58 (+tax). I feel an itch coming on as I started looking online at where I could find more Mighty Muggs, I found out that there is a whole world of Vinyl that I been missing out on.

If any one has any information on websites where I could be, resonible priced items let me know please. Some items outta my range would be anything $30 or more. so basicly I'm only into "minis" and 8" figures.

Mighty muggs are neat,but stuff like Kid Robot is what i'm looking for. Thanks in advance.

I'm looking to trade a lot of collectible 'trading cards', mostly Marvel and quite a look of X-Men cards from a particular series and I'm also looking to get hold of some rarities for the series.

Does anyone a really good forum for trading, 'trading cards'?

I only really know CPC for comics, and I googled for a few forums but most of the stuff that came up wasn't very good I'm just trying to find a forum or something that's very specific to selling, trading, buying - 'trading cards'.

Any help would be appreciated!

Marvel vending machine stickers - info/value?

Hello. I collected comic cards back in the day, and as I'm looking through my collection now to sell it, I've come across some stickers I remember buying from vending machines. I've looked on Ebay and I've Googled it but I've found no information other than one selling on Ebay. But they are not all from the same series, so some I really have no idea about. I've looked through some collectors' and stores' sale lists through Google but have not come across these stickers. I'm hoping y'all could help, with info and/or value for these stickers. Here are some scans:

Here there is a page of 9 cards.. numbering from 1 to 9, it seems that #1, 2, 7, and 9 are from one series/set/type, #3, 5, and 8 are from another, and obviously #4 and 6 from again another. This is judging by the darkness of the image as well as the size of the silver border, and in the case of 4 and 6 it is obvious as the images do not span the full card and the corners are not rounded. The backs of #1, 2, 7, and 9 are completely blank white, while the backs of all the rest are white with the words Kodak printed and some other words like Professional Paper and French and I think Spanish translations - different on different backs as it's written on the paper stock in general, not centered specifically for each individual card.

Here are six more stickers, with three holograms in the middle row of the page that are just from a card set, so ignore them.

Now with these you can see a number on each card in the corner. The backs are blank white except for two with the Kodak words on them. However you'll notice that #1 and 9 I have in duplicate, and one has the Kodak words on the back while the other does not. So I suppose that the words are printed scarcely enough on the paper stock such that some cards don't have any words on the back. These six stickers seem to all be from the same set, having to do with Spider-Man obviously. In small print on the front of these cards is written: "(c) 1995 Marvel", and, "Mfd. Under License by CEI." And interestingly on #2 and 9 on that page it also is written "Made in USA"; note that #1 and #9 are duplicates but #1 doesn't have the words made in USA, so perhaps there were different print runs put out.

Well that about describes the stickers. I thank ya in advance for any assistance that can be given! :D

Hi guys, my brothers gave me these hockey cards a long time ago and I was wondering if anyone knew how much they would be worth?

2x O-Pee-Chee 1985, #262 Scoring Leaders

I scanned them for you guys, the condition isn't that good... and I have no idea how to grade hockey cards. I don't even know how to grade comic books when I have over 10,000 of them simply because I would need to see someone do it in front of me and then get an idea how to do it myself. And I never needed to care for grading comic books since I buy them to read, and keep.

Anyway, any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Hallo guys,
I found this awesome thing at a thrift store. It is an x-men wallet, looks plastic-y, with Gambit on it, and in the packaging. It also looks mad old, and it says "1993" on it, so my assumption is that it can be dated from around then. I've tried searching it on ebay, amazon, etc, and can't find anything anywhere..

Could anyone help me figure out how much this might be worth, if anything?

I just purchased 2 Fighting American action figures made in the late 1990's. They were from Awesome Comics; I have the modern action figure and the Golden Age variant. Are these rare? Might anyone have any information on them? I just couldn't resist, my jingoistic tendencies would not let me :laugh: . I have always loved The Fighting American, I used to own Fighting American #3 (Golden Age), until I sold it last year.

Hello Gents and Ladies,

I have a question for the experts (yes, you all :) ). Do action figures really appreciate over time? I am asking because I have some Marvel Legends, DC Direct, and other stuff that I have bought over the years that I am thinking of selling. Some are moderately hard to find or more expensive (Series 1 Captain America, Series VIII Ultimate Captain America, Nick Fury, Black Panther, SDCC Spider-Man/Peter Parker, Stan Lee, Silver Surfer w/Howard the Duck, Series 3 Thor; DC Classics The Question and The Phantom Stranger, Series 1 Green Lantern; Fist of the North Star's Kenshiro, etc). What has happened is this: the new JLA Build-A-Scene has caught my eye...I want this thing like I never wanted a peice of comic art. I am even thinking of selling or trading one of my JLA vol. 1 #1's for it. Yes, it is that bad. Should I keep my action figures and just buy the thing, or sell them off? Will I be making the mistake? Does anyone own a JLA Build-A-Scene, and is it really as cool as it looks? I know that this is a lot of questions, but I want to make the right decision here. pop/cork guns

Anybody collect old pop guns or maybe referred to as cork guns?

I remember when I was a kid the dog kept chewing my cork. Solution, simply stick the barrel in the ground and shoot dirt.

I also had a handmade paperwad gun. It was a large drilled out dowel stick with a smaller dowel stick that slid inside the larger one. It had a handle which was the same size of the drilled out dowl. Simply chew up some paper and stick the wad in one side, insert the smaller dowel in the other side and quickly push it in to shoot the wad. I think my dog chewed that one up too. I remember my great uncle handmade it for me.

Thrift Store buy of the year!!

well...last year it was the ASM Ben Cooper Halloween costume...and today....well...

For a total of $6...i picked these 3 Batmobiles up.......the Tyco RC Batman Begins one is HUGE!!! (Almost as long and as tall as a Long Box!)
Its so big...i really dont know where the hell im going to put it....but i only paid $4 for it...so even if i trip over it untill hell frezzes over it was worth it...:D

The Smaller Batman Begins Batmobile works also...all the lights and sounds work...and the missles pop up...it was strange.........the missles were there...usually when its a toy with firing missles 9x outta 10 they are missing when i find them...
its not Disneynteddies 12" Thing.....(ewwwwwwwww)....but damn this thing is big!

~Detail vs Playability~

Do we sacrifice toys playability for details?

I would have to say yes and no..I guess it all depends on what Toy you are talking about..

So lets use the recent Star Wars toy line.. As a father of 2 boys I see how quickly the toys break compared to the Star Wars toys that I had as a kid.

Then there are the Star Wars Transformers..So much detail and no playability.
Most of them break 5 to 10 minuets after being taken out of the package.

Then there is the other toy lines that fall into the all show and no play.

I realize that the toy companies are trying to play up to the collectors but toys are for kids...They need to make them last more than one week..

Even Hot Wheels are guilty of this crime..

With over half of the toys being sold to collectors and specialty shops I can see why they do this, but I think that the big Boy's of toys have forgotten their target audience "Kids" they are the ones who have the power over their parents wallets and are the ones who the toys are (supposed) to made for in the first place.

I don't think the Big boys have figured it out that the collecting toy thing has come to an end and most toy collectors and dealers have gone back to their "Roots" and are not purchasing as many "New Toy Lines" as they did in the past.

So would you say that we have sacrificed our children's toys playability for Details and collectivity?

What do you think?

Mattel Pulling toys off Store Shelves..

Was looking at upcoming figure releases and saw this...

Mattel Toys Being Pulled From Shelves?!?!

Over the last few days, we have been getting questions from readers asking why it seems like certain Mattel products such as the new line of 6" Dark Knight Movie Master figures have been pulled off retailer shelves. Reports are spreading that stores like Toys R' Us and Target have been pulling these figures, along with Speed Racer, DCUC and Kung Fu Panda products.

To try to get to the bottom of this mystery, we went to Mattel's own Dan Salazar and asked him what he could tell us about these occurences. He provided us with an an official statement from Mattel on the matter:

Mattel is withdrawing certain limited products from retailer shelves worldwide. While these products meet with applicable local standards, the products do not meet Mattel internal specifications. Because these toys are safe, it is not necessary for us to "recall" them from the market. To confirm, no U.S. standards have been violated and no recall under federal law is warranted.

Though an exact list of the items being withdrawn by Mattel was not available, Dan did tell me that all products that were planned to be in Mattel's lines for ’08 will still be on store shelves…nothing is being dropped from this incident.

If now or in the future you as a consumer ever have questions or concerns involving products you have purchased, we reccomend you contact the retailer where you purchased the item(s) from. The retailer usually will have a specific list of any active product recalls for items they carry. You can also check the official goverment recall website at www.recalls.gov for additional information on products that have been recalled for saftey reasons.

Care and Maintenace of Your Collection.

Hi and welcome to the care and maintenace of your collection.

As many of you might or might not know I'm a huge collector. I also restore toys that have been damaged.

So the first tip I will give you is " How To Take Scratches Or Fog Out Of Clear Plastic"
Step one Clean the plastic with 409 then wipe down with warm tap water. Be sure to use good paper towells.They don't leave any fibers behind.

Next make sure plastic is dry. Then you will need Unscented Pledge (no cheap stuff) spray the pledge all over the plastic (spray thick coat) let sit for one min exactly. Then lightly rub the plastic in small circles (Wax on Wax off) for another min. Then wipe off. ((Repeat as many times as nessairy)) until clear or scratches are gone.
