Okay, I thought it might just be Saints Row 2 freezing on me....I had it happen last year while I was free roaming in the game.Never happened again.

Now I've started to play more co-op for SR2 and everytime we've played the game freezes! Whole system is locked up so I can only turn it off at the power button. For 3 days straight it has frozen.

I could deal if it was just THAT game.....But tonight I was just settling into a night of playing LEGO® Indiana Jones™ and the freaking console froze...It's never jammed on this game before.

Any suggestion as to what may be causing this problem? I try to keep my room as cool as possible while playing. It's just getting to the point where gamming is becoming super frustrating instead of enjoyable :s

Halo 2 players better get their last frags in. At midnight, Microsoft announced that it is ceasing support for all original Xbox games, including digital copies of Xbox Originals that were bought for the Xbox 360. Disc-based Xbox games optimized for the Xbox 360, such as Halo 2, will lose their online modes on that date. Any offline single-player modes will still function normally, and single-player games with no online component will be unaffected.

"On April 15, we will discontinue the Xbox Live service for original Xbox consoles and games, including Xbox v1 games playable on Xbox 360 and Xbox Originals," Xbox Live general manager Marc Whitten said in a statement. "I want to start by saying this isn’t a decision we made lightly, but after careful consideration, it is clear this will provide the greatest benefit to the Xbox Live community." Currently, Xbox Live has over 23 million users.

Xbox Live began in 2002 on the original Xbox and was the most robust online network of the last generation of consoles. NFL Fever was the first game on the service, and online play boosted the popularity of such games as MechAssault and Project Gotham Racing 2. However, it was Halo 2 that became the most popular original Xbox title on Xbox Live. The game is still played on it and has been for over five years since its November 2004 release. The original Xbox ceased production in 2006.

PS3 owners most likely to own other consoles

Contrary to popular opinion, Wii60 owners ain't got nothing on PlayStation 3, a new report released on Monday found.

According to the NPD's latest Games Segmentation report, PlayStation 3 owners are more likely to own other current-generation consoles when compared to Wii and Xbox 360 owners.

The results, compiled from 20,000 online survey respondents, counter the belief that there are more Wii and Xbox 360 combo owners (appropriately dubbed "Wii60" fans) than PlayStation 3 multi-system homes. No reasons were given as to why.

Interestingly, only 10 percent of PlayStation 2 owners also own a PlayStation 3, the study found.

In terms of portables, 45 percent of PSP owners also own a Nintendo DS, while only 21 percent of Nintendo DS owners also own a PlayStation Portable.

I have been playing this for a few days .I needed a brake from the new Call of Duty game.SO far its a blast.Its sort of a cross between Grand theft auto and well Hmmm ok its like Grand theft auto in WW2 .I have to say they did a really nice job on this game .oh and I have not beat it yet .So far I have beaten most games in no more then a week to 3 days.Anyway check out some of the trailers to this game.

I have never been one to play lots of video games for hours on end. However, I do have a certain weakness for board games. :D I'm not talking about the standard 12 to 15 games that you see in every Wal-Mart and Toys'R'Us in america. (Monopoly, battleship, clue... you know what I'm talking about.) What many people don't know is that there are tons of fun and entertaining board games that can still be found on the market today. Some of my favorite board games are settlers of cattan, tigris & euphrates, ticket to ride, zooloredo & axis and allies. Does anyone else have board games that they love to play?

Just picked up my Collectors Edition of Batman: AA this morning near my job. Now I have to wait 4 agonizingly long hours before I get off work.

The batarang that comes with it is pretty slick. It is made out of plastic, no metal parts, but it is still of decent quality. It is also fairly big. Pretty much a life-size replica. The CE also comes with the usual behind-the-scenes dvd of the game, a book that contains many artworks of the game, which is stored inside a leather pouch, and a code to unlock a special level through the internet. All of these goodies are stored in a nice looking case that resembles the Batman logo.

Anyone have the game yet? What are your impressions of it thus far?

I was never one to finish many pc games or sega games back in the day....I only learnt a few months ago I nearly completed Sonic 2 but could never get past the final boss.

The first game I completed in years was Grand Theft Auto: SA and after that I purchased my 360 give or take some years....Now I feel compelled to finish all the games I start.

Is it it important for you to finish a game right through or it doesn't bother you?

I ended up making my little character when on the day the new xbox experience went live...AND now I kinda like my little character..I only wish there was more I could custom though.

So I discovered over the weekend that you can make your own PS3 XMB themes. Pretty cool. So I've started making one for myself, based on Carmine Infantino's The Flash from the 60's. If there's anyone out there who'd be interested in maybe installing it on their system and giving me some advice on how to make it less sucky, I'd be much obliged.

It's got a bunch of pictures from old comics in there which I suppose must be copyrighted, but I'm just making it for personal use so I'm not sweating it. If anyone would feel wrong about using it though, I shan't send it to them.

Why is it when I play COD 4 and there are Americans on there, they are pretty damn nasty to the British? They do nothing but take the piss and talk about absolutely nothing but how great America is and how shitty the rest of the world is. Pretty disappointing to tell you the truth. I didn't think Americans were like that. I always had you down as warm and welcoming. I still do really, it's just on that game I suppose.

Just got a DS Lite a few hours ago...Ooo..It's new...Sadly it didn't come with any games..So I rushed out and bought some games on sale (Sonic Rush & Professor Layton and the Curious Village).

I'm super new to hand held consoles....I had a GBC years ago but never play anything but Pokemon on it (lol).

Any games you recommend?

Following a teaser announcement, MTV Games and Apple Corps. announced this morning that they are exclusively collaborating on a rhythm game based on the Beatles. The game will be developed by MTV-owned Harmonix, the original developer of Guitar Hero and the current developer of Rock Band, and will hit store shelves worldwide during the 2009 holiday season. No platforms were announced.

However, contrary to a Wall Street Journal report, the game will not be a Rock Band title. "Let me make this clear. This game is not just a Rock Band expansion pack," said Harmonix cofounder Alex Rigopoulos, obliquely referring to the recently announced AC/DC Rock Band game. "It's a full, new music game built from the ground up." Rigopoulos confirmed that the game would work with Rock Band instruments and "instruments from other games" when he was asked about Guitar Hero peripheral interoperability. No specific instruments were mentioned.

"We're not in the business of making stand-alone games for every band out there, but when a band like the Beatles comes along, it's the perfect confluence," said Van Toffler, president of MTV Networks' Music/Films/Logo group in an early morning conference call. Toffler declined to comment on whether the agreement will also apply to downloadable content for Rock Band or downloadable music in general. Currently, the Beatles do not offer their music for sale digitally via any venue, including iTunes.

Published by MTV Games and distributed by Electronic Arts, the Beatles title "will be an interactive music-making game," according to Jones. He also said it will cover the Liverpool quartet's entire catalog, from their first album, Please Please Me (1963), to their last album, Let It Be (1970). The game will also incorporate elements of their career, but neither MTV nor Apple Corps. would comment on whether or not Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, George Harrison, or John Lennon would be playable.

Starr and McCartney, the two surviving Beatles, talked up the game in a press release. "The project is a fun idea which broadens the appeal of the Beatles and their music. I like people having the opportunity to get to know the music from the inside out," said McCartney. "The Beatles continue to evolve with the passing of time and how wonderful that the Beatles' legacy will find its natural progression into the 21st century through the computerized world we live in," said the fan-averse Ringo Starr.

Intriguingly, the Beatles game will incorporate visual elements from the group's psychedelic album art and their films. "A visual exploration of the Beatles' imagery is a big part of this project," said Rigopoulos, raising the prospect of Yellow Submarine-influenced undersea gameplay. Giles Martin, Grammy-award-winning musical director of the opulent Beatles-based Cirque du Soleil musical Love, will collaborate on the project.

Unopened games in your collection

I'm on the extreme end because I have at least 60 games I have yet to play, but I'm not the only one who doesn't rush to open their games:

You'd think after plopping down $50-60 on a game, gamers would rush to their consoles.

While that maybe true for most, a new study by the NPD group (via Gamasutra) found that at least one of every 10 purchased games still has shrink wrap on it. The survey polled 562 gamers, all of which had purchased games at retail in the past six months, and also found the average video game collection contains an impressive 48 games.

Who the crap is leaving games in shrink wrap? At least open the thing to appreciate that new games smell, like I did with Professor Layton, before never placing it into my DS cartridge slot (I still plan to though, someday, just you watch!)

LittleBigPlanet, one of this year's most-anticipated PlayStation 3 releases, won't be arriving in stores next week as expected.

The "social platforming" game is already gathering rave reviews, but it hasn't proven popular with one Muslim group, which issued a complaint to the game's publisher Sony concerning one background music track. Performed by award-winning Malian musician Toumani Diabate, the song quotes two verses from the Qur'an. Many Muslims consider the mixing of music and scripture to be deeply offensive.

Although the game is already pressed, packaged, and reportedly sitting in the back rooms of many worldwide retailers awaiting its original Oct. 21 debut, gamers eager to get hold of it will have to wait at least another week while the offending content is expunged. Updated versions of the game are expected to be shipped to stores during the week of October 27.

Peter Molyneux is one of the video-game industry's most enthusiastic promoters, always pushing the boundaries of what games can accomplish. He's generally credited with inventing the "god game" with 1989's "Populous" (to which this year's "Spore" owes an incalculable debt), and his other successes include "Syndicate," "Dungeon Keeper," "Black & White" and "The Movies."

Molyneux has also developed a reputation for biting off more than he can chew. Before the 2004 release of "Fable," for example, he crowed, "It's gonna be the best game ever." A few months later, he famously apologized for promising features that the final product didn't deliver.

Over the last few years, Molyneux's been talking a lot about "Fable II" (Microsoft, for the Xbox 360, $59.99). But this time, he's throttled back the hype and talked about features only when he was confident that they would appear in the game. "I hope you're going to say, 'This is a lot more than what I expected,'" he told one British gaming Web site.

As one of those players who found "Fable" somewhat disappointing, I'm happy to say "Fable II" is, indeed, a lot more than what I expected. It delivers on most of what Molyneux promised the first time around, presenting a living, breathing world filled with adventure. It's not perfect — which Molyneux has already acknowledged — but it is one of the most absorbing experiences you can have on an Xbox 360.

Your first choice is simple: Do you want to play as a boy or a girl? Then you're dumped on the snowy streets of a Dickensian town called Bowerstone, where you and your sister, Rose, scrounge for coins. After rescuing a puppy and cranking up a magic music box, you and Rose are summoned by the mysterious Lord Lucien — who promptly murders Rose and tries to kill you.

Ten years later, you're a teenager with a mission: Avenge your sister. Your journey covers a vast, exquisitely detailed world filled with verdant fields, bustling cities and deadly dungeons, with dozens of missions leading up to your final confrontation with Lucien.

The setting, a planet called Albion, is the most immediately striking feature of "Fable II." The landscape changes constantly, not just from night to day but from season to season. You can communicate with nearly everyone you meet, and you can enter every building in Albion.

As with any role-playing game, your character evolves as the game proceeds: Your attacks get stronger, you learn more powerful spells and you can afford better equipment. In "Fable II," though, your moral choices are also reflected. Strangers react differently if you have a bad reputation, and real evildoers develop nasty skin problems. You can also get married, buy a house and have kids, or have affairs with as many villagers as you can seduce. (Beware, though: Venereal disease is a real threat.)

Still, the most important relationship you'll have in Albion is with that dog you rescued in Act I. He's one of the most delightful creatures ever seen in a video game, a supporting character with more personality than most games' lead characters. The animators at Molyneux's Lionhead Studios have clearly spent a lot of time studying dog behavior, because this mutt acts like the real thing. And he's an invaluable companion, sniffing out buried treasure, growling when enemies approach and lending a paw when battles get heated.

"Fable II" doesn't have the most original plot. It often feels like a potpourri of elements from every fantasy epic you've ever read, from "The Odyssey" and "The Arabian Nights" to "The Lord of the Rings" and the Harry Potter series. But genre fans are just as likely to appreciate the references as to be annoyed by them; there's even a clever shout-out to last year's great science-fiction adventure "BioShock."

More problematic, the combat is a bit simplistic: You press one button for melee attacks (swords, axes), one button for ranged attacks (guns, crossbows) and one button for magic. Likewise, most of the dungeons are a little too straightforward for battle-hardened role-playing fans. And as beautiful as Albion is, you'll spend a lot of time simply roaming in search of your next quest.

Nonetheless, I really got sucked into the world of "Fable II." It doesn't reinvent the RPG, but it does make the genre accessible to newcomers while providing more than enough action to satisfy the most demanding aficionado. It's nearly irresistible. Three-and-a-half stars out of four.

I am going to buy either a PS3 or a XBOX 360 today. I am going on travel that from were I will be secluded. (No not jail).....
Which system should I buy? Right now I am leaning to the XBOX 360 because it cheaper. In a couple of weeks when my trip is over I doubt I ever play it again. Unless of course i like it..Also the cheaper 360 allows for more games...Now the PS3 is attractive because of Blu Ray...I donot not have Blu Ray player and it would be real nice to have 1. What say u gamers?
