okay I like the chain music and chain movie post. I wanted to see if anybody wanted to do the K Bacon game as well.

So you have to name two actors in one movie and then take one and name another in another movie. Heres the catch you can't name that person in that movie again. I will post the tally every ten picks so there are no repeats.

I'll do the first three to start it gets pretty fun for movie "experts" and very challenging.

I can't stand Michael Bay. There is no doubt his movies make money but that doesn't validate much of his less than stellar opinions that he has put out there. The guy thinks he is the greatest thing since sliced bread.

Anyway, Michael Bay won big at award show this year ... The Razzies which honour the worst of film. Tranformers:Revenge of the Fallen cleaned up taking worst picture, director and screenplay. No doubt Bay will be blogging furiously tomorrow blaming someone or something else for that expensive mountain of crap he made.:rolleyes:

HELP!...The Beatles and Comics

Just watching The Beatles in Help! with my 9 year old...and I noticed in the scenes that are shot in their "flat"...the piano has DC comicbooks instead of sheet music on the music stand...Action, Jimmy Olsen, Superman and some others...but no Marvel comics...
You can see them well in "Part 3"...just before they shrink Paul to Atom size...;)

Which is kind of funny because I remember an old Stan Lee's Soapbox where Stan talked about them visiting the Marvel offices and about what big fans they were of Marvel comicbooks...and of course there's their famous appearance with the FF...:D

LOS ANGELES – Time to dust off that resume, Spider-Man. You're fired!

Don't fret, the web-slinger will still be keeping New York City safe from Venom and Carnage and any number of other dastardly villains he's tangled with over the years. But beginning Wednesday, he's going to have to do it between trips to the unemployment line.

That's the day Peter Parker, Spider-Man's nice guy alter-ego, hears the words, "You're fired" from his cranky, long-suffering boss, Mayor J. Jonah Jameson. Worse still, Jameson not only sacks Parker, who makes his living as a photojournalist, he blacklists him with every news organization in town.

This of course raises all kinds of interesting questions:

• How will Parker maintain his Spider-Man costumes? Dry-cleaning bills alone must run to several hundred dollars a year.

• How will he keep buying the stuff he uses to spin those industrial-strength webs needed to hop from building to building? Surely he doesn't pick that up at the 99 Cents Store.

• Where is his next meal coming from? Would he be reduced to spinning webs outside supermarkets and trapping shopping carts in them?

"Because we still want to sell comic books, I can't answer those questions," laughs Joe Quesada, editor-in-chief of Marvel Comics, which reveals the web spinner's latest crisis in Issue No. 623.

But while hard times may lie ahead, Spider-Man has gotten through hard times before. Just two years ago his marriage to beautiful Mary Jane came to an end when the villain Mephisto erased everyone's memory of it.

He landed on the unemployment line this time not because of the recession or even a downsizing news industry. You probably guessed it already, it was because of an evil villain.

Spider-Man got wind of a plot to frame Jameson and exposed it by digitally manipulating photos he'd taken as Peter Parker. Of course to do that he had to violate journalism ethics by misrepresenting the images. Jameson, longtime publisher of the Daily Bugle, could never tolerate that.

And just why would Peter Parker/aka Spider-Man do such a thing anyway?

"Just because he has super powers doesn't mean he's perfect," says Quesada.

A limited edition Green Hornet promo card, designed exclusively for the Baltimore Non-Sports Card Convention and offered in conjunction with Martin Grams' and Terry Salomonsons' upcoming Green Hornet book, will be issued with each paid admission to the March 21, 2010 show while supplies last. Only 1,000 cards will be printed.

The convention will feature numerous tables of exhibitors from the non-sports hobby, including artists, authors, manufacturers, publishers, and dealers, according to the show's promoter, USA Theatres.

Newly added guests appearing at the convention include Brian Kong (a full-time sketch card artist, who has created over 10,000 original sketch cards from some of the most prolific properties including MLB, X-Men, Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Heroes, NBA, Dexter, Marvel Masterpieces, Iron Man, Lord of the Rings, Spiderman 3, Star Trek, Marilyn Monroe, Wizard of Oz, The Complete Avengers, DC: Legacy, and Frankenstein) and Manny Mederos (cartoonist/illustrator and sketch card artist, whose recent projects include sketch card sets such as Voltron, Defender of the Universe, Zombies vs. Cheerleaders, and the Archie Comics/March of Dimes sketch card series).

Other highlights of the convention will include a unique exhibition by Geppi's Entertainment Museum and trading card manufacturer Rittenhouse Archives.

The convention is set to debut on March 21 from 10 AM to 3 PM at the Towson Place Hotel & Suites (Formerly the Holiday Inn Baltimore-Towson), 1100 Cromwell Bridge Road, Towson, Maryland. Admission into the event is $5 for adults and free for children under 12.

I got the dvd this weekend...what i had heard, and seen, looked good..so I held judgement till i saw it my self.. and I'm conflicted. I wanted to really like this movie, it started out great, not the killing of Butler's family, that was tragic in of itself, but the who'll miscarriage of justice..ok, good premise to start on..and the vengence thing was interesting but it seemed to plod from there. Ok, maybe plod is the wrong word...Confusing, befuddling, I mean he's this dude who went from family man to being this super secret govmnt brainiac..??? I don't know, its like it could have been handled better..like he's outsmarting these people and only to be biacthed slapped at the end...didn't make sense..it built, then fell flat.

Like i said, I was liking it up to the last half hour......then it just got stupid. I'm gonna watch Zombieland again...I need me some entertainment.:blink:

I'm trying to find the name of a movie about a mysterious person in a car who murders people. In the movie he winds up killing a tow truck driver's son. The tow truck than modifies his truck to take on the mysterious driver. I remember the car's hubcaps had drills and the truck's hubcap had these saw bits and the tow truck hook could also be used as a weapon?

Gossip Girl" Blake Lively may want to set aside her New York fashionista wardrobe and prepare to incorporate more Lycra. The actress is the latest to join the hero squad after she signed on to star in "Green Lantern," based on the DC Comic series. Chalk it up to one more sign that everyone's a superhero these days.

Lively will star as Carol Ferris. She will star as the love interest for Green Lantern, played by Ryan Reynolds, who has plenty of his own good deeds ahead. After wearing green for the Martin Campbell-directed movie, Reynolds will return for "Deadpool," a spinoff based on his character in the hit film, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine." Not to worry, "X-Men" fans -- that doesn't mean the franchise will take a hit. Director Bryan Singer is returning for another round, and is planning a prequel that is being called "X-Men: First Class."

Singer shared a few plot details with Variety, noting that it will cover "the formative years of Xavier and Magneto, the formation of the school and where [their] relationship took a wrong turn. There will be a lot of new mutants and a great villain."

Good news. Mutants and great villains mean plenty of juicy roles to go around, not that Hollywood seems to be hurting with Gwyneth Paltrow, Scarlett Johansson, and Robert Downey Jr. teaming up for "Iron Man 2" or "Jonah Hex," where Megan Fox and Josh Brolin try to rid the world of the undead.

The only actor who seems to have had enough super-antics? Stuart Townsend, who gave up the role of the villain of Marvel Comic's movie adaptation of "Thor." Townsend left the project today, citing creative differences, according to sources close to the set, who add that he'll be replaced by Joshua Dallas. The movie begins production today, with a power cast (naturally) that also includes Natalie Portman and Anthony Hopkins.

In November we lost accomplished British Actor Edward Woodward...:crying:...perhaps best know in the US as "Robert McCall"..."The Equalizer" (1985-1989)...

I first saw him in the film "Beckett" (1964)...and "Young Winston" (1972)...and the original cult version of "The Wicker Man" (1973)...but he really shown as Breaker Morant...in "Breaker Morant" (1980)...

Some may remember him as "The Ghost of Christmas Present" in the acclaimed George C. Scott television version of "A Christmas Carol" (1984)...

He was felled by pneumonia...the same way Jim Henson died...

I'm a film & TV fanatic. The number of films(3,000+) I've seen more and TV episodes(I'll have ask Mr. Owl about that number) I've watched is definitely more than number of comic books I've read(although I certainly own more comics), so I figured I'd follow bobafettesb's lead and start my own entertainment thread.

I'll watch 5-20 movies on any given week, mostly on TCM and occasionally FMC. Whenever I get HBO, etc for free, I'll try to watch as many films on there as possible. I'm usually doing something else(browsing on ebay, grading comics, leaving messages in this forum:P), while the films are playing. I only sit and watch 1-3 films a week.

I run the projector at our local theater, where we get 1 or 2 films a month, and I'll usually screen those movies alone. But even before that, I had pretty much stopped seeing films with audiences. The last 5 films I saw with an audience were The Simpsons, Knocked Up, Ghost Rider, Ghost World, and Ghost Dog. That's right 3 'Ghost' films in a row with a 6 year gap between two of them.

I've rated most of the movies, a lot of TV series, and a small portion of TV episodes that I've seen at IMDB.com. I find it easier to rate movies with a 4 star system as opposed to imdb's 10 point(or 5 star) system. So, my scale runs from 9(****) to 1(turkeys). I've tried to start rating laughably bad films as 1s, so I need to go through my 2s-4s and re-rate them as 1s. I also need to fine tune some of my film ratings(I'm a bit OCD about this). I also rate TV Series/Episodes on a 4 star system, but I put their max at 8, so that the higher ranked ones would not be on par with similarly ranked films.

(I don't have too many comments, need to work on that because the world needs to know my opinion;))

I typically won't spend more than $5(plus tax) on a movie DVD. Probably 75% of my collection was from the 2 for $10 bins at Wal-Mart or as 4 for $20 deals at Blockbuster.
I try to get film/TV sets and collections for 25% of retail on ebay.
I still buy the occasional VHS tape, but, but I try to limit those purchases to $1. I make exceptions of Dr. Who & MST3K because it's hard to find the DVDs at low price, and I'll also pay few dollars more if it's part of a certain series release(i.e. MGM's 007s with the gold tops, Universal's Comedy Legends & Classic Horror)
