I have X-men issue #2 and #3 that are that way.A strip cut out of the cover where the title of the book should be. Does anyone make reproduction covers for older comics?

Thanks Aaron. I wasn't sure exactly how they handled returns in the 70's. I know they took them back whole in part of the 80 and all of 90's ... at least here in Manitoba.

As mentioned coverless = poor condition. The value range can be from a few cents to around 1% of the near mint value. The latter is a rare case though and is generally reserved for those book that a high demand key book like Action Comics #1, Amazing Spider-man #1, etc.

As for why they are coverless, unless they were out of a cheap bin or you got them from a family member that worked for a store with a newsstand assume that the books were handled so much that the covers eventually came loose and got lost. There are what are call return strips out there but are more commonly associated with older books from the fifties and older I have not seen very many strips from the 60's and none from the 70's. Hello

I am going through some old boxes from when we were kids, and I have some comics that are missing covers?? All of the pages are there. Did they remove them like they do with books when they don't sell and are returned to the publishers-maybe we just took off some of the covers, or they fell off??

Anyway, I have one I looked up- Our Army at War ;The Rock of Easy Co # 81 which is listed as being worth a lot of money for a mint edition- Is there any value to what I have, or should I just kick myself (again and again) that it doesn't have a cover and move on?
