I'm pissed off right now because e-bay hasn't done anything about bid snipingbots. I understand last second votes, but todays example was ridiculous. I've been watching/high bidder on a "So Much Fun"variant issue of Uncanny X-men 221 for the past 6-7 days. Minutes ago the auction was set to end and to be safe I bumped up my bid amount and then watched for the final 4 minutes refreshing every 5-10 seconds. I watched as the timer went all the way down to 2 seconds before I was sniped at literally the last second. I am so pissed because the bid amount was only .50 above my max amount and I would have easily bid more.

Whats so damn frustrating is that E-bay is changing around so much of it's site, and really pissing off it's sellers that you'd think they'd take into acount maybe blocking these sniping bots so that people could have actual bid contests, but no, instead some douche bag with a snipe program steals my sale.

And it better not have been someone from this site that out bid me or I'm gonna lose it...
I don't see what the problem is - bid your highest, and then if you lose, then no worries. Or, get with the program and bid using a snipe-bot... either way, this is nothing new to bitch about, and it's not going to stop.

RE: I Hate E-Bay
That reminds me, I have to post a picture of my new variant issue of Uncanny X-men 221.
OUCH..........but very funny......in my opinion

RE: I Hate E-Bay
Set 0ne (5/23/2008)

Harvest (5/23/2008)
I use Esnipe for nearly all my auction wins. I wonder how people get by not using it..
I don't use a sniping program..I used it once or twice but I'm usually around when auctions end..But if I know I'm not going to be around I just put in my max bid and leave it..If it goes over my max then it just means it's not for me (yet).
I agree here! I have never used a snipe program. And I win most of the auctions that I bid on.

But I have gotten over getting too mad about losing an auction. That same item that you are looking to aquire will be BACK on there at some point! (it may take up to a year or more! - ie; from experience!) but eventually you will get that item for the price you want to pay for it.

But you really have to be an "AVID" ebayer to find the deals. "OFF peak" times are the way too go! I've found killer deals at 3' o clock in the morning. And when you find those people that don't know what the have and put a "Buy it Now" on their items are my personal favorite!

As for bidding goes, I've gotten to the point where I put the absolute maximum on an item that I "REALLY" want to pay for it, about 10 seconds before an auction ends. That way... If they want the item worse than me... THEY'RE REALLY GONNA PAY FOR IT!...

I've not gotten outbid by 50 cent in quite a few years now!

-FBTA (an eBayer 10+ years now!)
Oh! and P.S. " I LOVE the HELL out of some eBay!!!!!

RE: I Hate E-Bay
Harvest (5/23/2008)
I use Esnipe for nearly all my auction wins. But when someone is beating you with a knife maybe its time to make it even and get a knife or a gun. What i mean is why dont you get a sniping system yourself. I use it hammersnipe myself. the pros outweigh the cons. i like to use it because it keeps the auctions low, i dont miss auction endings. dont have to be home or up very late to win just put my max bid then how many seconds before ending i want it to "snipe" the auction, usually 3 secs. and thats it. DONT GET MAD GET EVEN.

RE: I Hate E-Bay

Just enter your highest bid right off the bat and let the auction run its course. Sniping will not take the auction from you if your bid is higher. Don't assume an auction with no activity for 6 days is gonna be safe. Lastly, don't put in low bais that you think will win. 99% of the time they get taken from you.

RE: I Hate E-Bay

I understand what you're getting at Havok. It's like hunting when you're the only one without a machine gun. I've been there, and it sucks.

RE: I Hate E-Bay

Use a snipe program yourself. Enter your max and walk away and wait.

Most auctions end when I can't bid, so I have to use a snipe. The last book I won, I was on the highway pulled over for not having my taillights on when I won the book.

RE: I Hate E-Bay

Quit using it. problem solved.

Shrugs-

RE: I Hate E-Bay

hmm.. don't want to get sniped then bid more...you were most likely outbid by way more than .50 Ebay is just going to show you the next highest bid...if you would have paid more than why didn't you just bid that from the beginning?..D

RE: I Hate E-Bay

I'm going to move this thread into the 'working with auctions' area.

But eBAY is never going to get rid of snippers...And while you may have been out bid by only 50cents you don't truely know what the person/snipe max was.

Even without eBays new rules this was happening...I'm pretty sure many people have faced this problem before but it won't be a concern to eBay when they are just in it for earning money..SO..Whatever gets them more $$'s is fine by them in some respects.

I Hate E-Bay

So this will be short and to the point.
