Grading on comics for eBay but buyer still unhappy?

I arrived home to check eBay out to find a message waiting for me...Reccently I sold a comic and I gave it a grade of VG.

It had some pen marks and the subscription filled out which I didn't disclose but I thought the Grading would cover that. Possibly the person doesn't know a thing about grading comics..I'm not sure but that's also fair enough.

They sent me a message asking for a part refund or returnal of the comic. I don't take returns on anything as mentioned in my listing...I also don't tend to give refunds either unless it's a very bad mistake....But I've told them I was sorry the comic didn't meet their expectations and gave them a link to CPG grading...I also told them I sm willing to give them $5 refund.

Is this my own fault for not telling such a thing? Or is it something the buyer should have asked before bidding?

Just wanted to get your opinions on a situtaion like this..Has it happened to you?

Paypal and Ebay fees

Haven't been on this form in ages, kinda got out of collecting for a while never stopped buying but have cut way back and am way behind on my reading.

Any way I am having a bit of a clear out and have put about 20 or 30 comics on ebay for sale, generally at €1 each and then the shipping cost €1.50 to Ireland and €3 to europe.

Apart from the fact the the shipping price is to low ( it is costing me €3 to post not including the packing to the UK) I am getting ripped on ebay and paypal.

Its 0.15 cent every time i list a comic wether or not it sells and each time I sell one at €4 including shipping they take o.49cent. thus it is costing me to sell them instead of a few extra coins in my back pocket.

Any advice would be greatly accepted.

All the stuff im selling Modernern from the last year or so. Just in case you are wondering.

I recently just bought Red Sonja #1 (1977) of eBay for about $3.63 (including Delivery). I was expecting it to arrive by mail on Thursday, so that evening i made sure i was home to get it.

I walked to the letter box and i saw it there, i was excited until i realised, the post man rolled the parcel up and stuffed it in the mailbox were the all junk mail goes. Even though on top the parcel it clearly said PLEASE DO NOT BEND (thank you).

I was devastated. I know i only spent $3.63 on it, but the stupidity of a person just ruined a very fine Comic book.

I immediately took the comic book out of the old bag it came in and stuck it between the pages of the biggest book i could find so i could flatten it. It worked, it only has two long crease marks on the cover which you can only see on certain angles.

Now the question is who do you blame? the postman? or the seller?

I blame the seller for not making the parcel stiff enough so it can't get bent. He just had it in a bag with a thin card that was probably 15 yeas old.

I'm not going to mark as negative, but what am i gonna do is leave firm warning for other buyers in his feedback. I think i will even send him a message just so he is aware.

Got burned on postage left a neg and now this!?!

Sooo like my subject tells I got burnt by postage....Seller charged $10 for shipping and it only cost them $1 to send....It pissed me off. So I got in contact with the seller asking for a refund on postage which they refused to give me so I negged them tonight!

Then a few minutes later I get this email to my private account:

I understand that you are somehow disappointed about that but I believe you have received the item in good and undamaged condition even though it was sent in plain envelope.

I have clearly mentioned in the listing, $10 is for postage + handling
fee which is not negotiable. The net item price $25 is actually below my
cost. To recover my cost, ebay fee and slim profit, I need to charge $10
for each item. Most buyers are quite happy so far (see my feedbacks) with this practice.

To buy on ebay, I think we should consider the total cost (item price +
postage) and then make judgment whether the item is bargain or not.
Frankly, what I want from selling it is $35 in total (each unit). I could adjust the price to $30 + $5, $33 + $2 or even $35 + free postage but no matter what buyers will still need to pay $35. I pick the combination of $25 + $10 is to increase the exposure to whom looking for lowest item price.

Once again, I apologise for any disappointment. I hope you
understand my difficulty in pricing on ebay which is no longer easy to
make money...

You know that it is always heart-broken when someone gives you negative
feedback especially when I am a seller. I don't think it is fair in the current situation unless I had sent you with pirate copy or even worse I had not sent the game to you. I would like you to review the negative feedback and consider to withdraw it for me. I have no problem to refund $5 which is part of the postage if you can do this favor for me. Just let me know.

Now this email is just rehersed...Lots of other people have gotten mad at this seller for their horrible charges...I thought $10 for shipping wasn't bad because I live outside the main part of Australia so I didn't think anything of it until it arrived to me last week. The thing that stinks is they are NOW tell me they can give me a refund of only $5 but I wouldn't believe them at all. They can cop this neg! I asked for a refund before the neg but they wouldn't budge so hence the neg....Now they making themselves look all 'poor' and 'hurt' because they recieved my neg.

I'm unsure if they can neg me back because of eBay.com.au new rules..But seriously they could avoid all this by just charging the RIGHT price plus a little bit for handling...But $9 over I don't think so.

So this will be short and to the point. I'm pissed off right now because e-bay hasn't done anything about bid sniping bots. I understand last second votes, but todays example was ridiculous. I've been watching/high bidder on a "So Much Fun" variant issue of Uncanny X-men 221 for the past 6-7 days. Minutes ago the auction was set to end and to be safe I bumped up my bid amount and then watched for the final 4 minutes refreshing every 5-10 seconds. I watched as the timer went all the way down to 2 seconds before I was sniped at literally the last second. I am so pissed because the bid amount was only .50 above my max amount and I would have easily bid more.

Whats so damn frustrating is that E-bay is changing around so much of it's site, and really pissing off it's sellers that you'd think they'd take into acount maybe blocking these sniping bots so that people could have actual bid contests, but no, instead some douche bag with a snipe program steals my sale.

And it better not have been someone from this site that out bid me or I'm gonna lose it...:crazy:

I've gotten two deals off of there, bought a full run of Watchmen for $45 and resold it for $80 and Iron Man #1 for $40 and resold it for $85.

Im considering putting my comics on there instead of ebay since they dont charge any fee's at all. I just dont know if its as popular amongst the comic geeks out in lala land.

I am feeling a bit overwhelmed with selling my comics. The only thing I am sure of, is that I want to sell the low-mid priced ones to raise money to have a couple professionally graded and slabbed. I am familiar with Ebay but none of the other venues of sale.

I have this crazy idea in mind, where I have a giant lot sale. I throw in all the comics I'd be happy to see go for a dollar or less....and people pay $20 for 15 comics...including shipping and I stuff them into a flat rate envelope. No Boards, No plastic. Sound plausible? Can you send comic books using the media rate of the USPS?

I have a fair amount of Comics I'd be happy to get $5 for each one. Should I list those separately? If you happen to look at my comic list, please note I have only changed the grade on a couple of comics.

I have a fair amount of comics that might be hard to give away, I am thinking maybe of trying to bundle them up with some more sought after titles somehow to get rid of them.

Any thoughts/suggestions would be very appreciated.

There is no comic code approval stamp on the cover. Im not sure what issue this is, but i doubt its worth 200 bucks.

here is an auction from a seller I buy from once in a while on ebay.

He listed this as:
WOLVERINE #131 RECALLED EDITION CGC 9.8

But looking at his scan its states that this is the "CORRECTED PRINTING" on the slab in the notes.
It's not the "recalled issue" itself but the fixed issue. Doesn't this seem like he is miss informing the buyers? Wouldn't this sell for less compared to the issues that weren't "corrected"?

Negative feedback are you scared of it?

I dunno why people seem to get all uppity about negative feedback when it comes to eBay. I'm not frightened of negs on my account but I do get upset when sellers won't leave feedback until the buyer has doneso...It's like if you neg them they will neg you right away EVEN THOUGH you've done the right thing buy paying them.

Negs are there to be used correctly but it'll never happen...So eBay.au did something about it and made it so sellers can only leave positive feedback....While I don't agree with it....I think sellers have just as much right to neg a buyer if they were slow with payment or kept putting of the payment or never answered their emails.

I think if eBay could put in some system that once the buyer has paid the seller has to leave feedback right away be it positive or neg..They can't wait.....I dunno how something like this could work...Too many holes in the idea.

But yea people always seem scared of tarnishing their 100% score.

So let me relay my lastest pain with an Ebay seller...

As the auction says, it is an Adult Large... thats all the sizing information thats provided... when I get the jersey, I try it on and its too big for me... I look for the size and all thats on the jersey is a chest size (48), no S-M-L-XL labeling... since this is supposed to be an authentic Majestic jersey, I went to their website to see the sizing chart...

It clearly states that a chest size 48 is an XL... therefore, I was sent the wrong jersey size correct?

The seller claims they didnt know much about baseball (I dont see how that matters) and thought it was the right size... they have a 44 and will send it to me if I send the other jersey back... I was going to do that my having it returned to sender with all my address info blacked out... but then I say the return address was just a couple miles away from my office...

I so Im trying to see if I can just drop it off at the return address so they can send me another jersey, kind of dumb to have it shipped somewhere thats not too far away from my office... plus, technically, I shouldnt be paying for any shipping since it was there mistake, right? Now they are giving me this whole line about it being an offsite warehouse and that they will not meet me yada yada, which I could care less about meeting them, I just want to drop it off so they can ship another one... plus an address is just an address whether or not its an offsite warehouse or not...

Plus, they keep reiterating about how long its taking to get the jersey back ... the only reason its taking anytime at all is because of the going back and forth on email... they will probably try to use some limited number of days return policy crap soon...

Anyway, any thoughts...

I have a few auctions up for some extra crap I'm trying to get rid of. I have had 3 people send me emails asking for a buy it now option.

Anyone know why this is happening? I haven't tried to sell on ebay in years.
