How do print/binding errors affect value?

I have an X-Men 94 that is in amazing shape but for the inner cover being off-center from the outer... result is that the ad in the back runs right to the edge trim.

I know print quality in the 70s was not 100% but how common is that? Does it affect the value in a good way, a bad way, a not-at-all way?

4.5 - 5.0, leaining towards the 4.5. Still a solid book.

staples are in great shape, and it's a no to the water damage. interior is in great shape as well... nice crisp corners on all the pages.

the spine isn't split at the bottom, but there's some wear.

I'd say a 5.0 if the staples are in good shape and that isnt water damage on the top of the book.

SS#8 looks like a 2.0 IMO. way to much spine damage to go any higher

Can I get an opinion on this: Silver Surfer #8. I'm thinking 3/3.5, but would like an unbiased grade. I think I might be too kind because I want it to be better than it really is.

I know this is not a scan. (no scanner) But its the best I can do. I have never had a comic graded, so have at it. Give me a rough idea.

I'll go with an 8.5 for this one. This thread only works with a moderator *cough* Universal Soldiers. If its a free for all then books are better suited to individual threads.

Nope, I'd say that at the VF level, that little writing doesn't do any further damage. Sweet GL by the way, that's one I don't have yet. I might have graded it a little higher than Joker, but I'm probably too forgiving of the little things.

Have you seen the [url=http://www.e-bigs.net/freetool.php]FREE-BIGS[/url] page? It's a great way to improve your grading skills. Run your GL through it and see what you come up with. It's not perfect, and sometimes I've felt that a comic deserves either a half grade more or less, but it's really pretty cool.

Hello all, I think this forum is awesome, was just surfing around and found it. I've had some comics kicking around in a box for years and I have no idea how to grade them etc, help me out!:w00t:

I bought this comic for 50 cents in a comic shop a couple of years ago, I got number 10 as well, 10 has a couple of problems, would appreciate an opinion on it as well, I'll post it later.

Ummmmmmmmm no way that ASM 300 gets a 9.2 more like an 8.0-8.5 at best and on that early avengers I was more in the 6.5 range because of the CBC's and a pretty decent size CB fold in the upper rt corner.

Roughly speaking it looks like something in the low 3.5 - 4.0 range, but it's hard to say anything for sure without larger scans. Check out some of the other scans in this thread and try for something of about the same size. Also, include a scan of the back as well. And finally, you should take it out of the bag so we can really see it.
