Honestly speaking, I am a fanboy at heart, so just having a (rather small) collection jumpstarts my knowledge of arcs, new writers/artists, etc. However, I am unclear as to how the market works these days. It seems like the only real books of value are golden/silver age books, and I don't really understand the big fuss over variant covers. But I am eager to learn. I saw the list and knew there were doubles, but didn't realize how many until I categorized them myself. Oh well, its a great start for someone who has been out of the loop for years. (After considering fees, time, etc).</P><P>If you bought them to collect, then you did alright if they are in NM condition. I used to collect as a teen(didn't take much care of my books, most were thrown away by my family), and as a college student( learned to bag and board, but didn't keep them either).<br> I recently made an online purchase from craigslist, and I thought it was a deal too good to be true. I purchased around 527 books (a WHOLE LOT of World War Hulk doubles, and Civil War), but I also have a few cover sketch variants, and the books were pretty current(the entire endangered species, and messiah complex run, with a few variants) and in NM condition(I think). My wallet is $250.00 less, but I bought 2 long boxes of all bagged and boarded books. Was this too much money, or did I come out on top of the deal? Would love anyones advice on this.
