Nicely done!! Keep up the good work!!

I like to think of it as a " search and rescue" mission. Finding comics at a garage sale, and then re-selling them to people who will give 'em a good home. :P

Alright PEP, I took your free, offered in good faith, no commision warranted advice and sold 74 of the 101 Spider-Man comics that I found (the other 27 didn't sell...yet)

Cost to me at the garage sale = $74.00
Total yield after all sales ended on ebay = $526.68 (not counting amounts paid for shipping...but I did subtract the ebay/paypal fees) :w00t:

How do some of you score these amazing garage sale deals? I go to a garage sale and its like shoes, aquarium, an old rug, a picture frame, a broken lamp, coffee mugs, tv stand from 1973, hideous clothes, some crappy records......so on. You guys go and score some sick comics. 2 copies of ASM 300?

Wife found a garage sale listed on craigslist said it had 5000+ comics mostly moderns early 80's through late 90's Marvel/DC mostly...now these are few and far between in my neck of the woods, but this one was by my brother's place (30 min. drive) so I said what the F' and went to check it out. Most are in VF/NM condition with most being slightly better and a few being slightly worse. He told me to email him on Sunday night to ask if anything was left. He had a lot more I would like (Incredible Hulk, Captain America, Avengers, Batman, etc...all around a similar time period) but I ran out of cash.

Other "finds" I've stumbled upon while cruising ebay in the dead of night:

found these four (Aquaman #9 and 61, Manthing #3 and 4) in a lot listed together as antiques (paid $4.24 for all making them $1.06 each :D )

Also picked up a copy of ASM #89 for $4.36 (no special listing on this one, just got it a low price...at least I think it's low) thought it was odd.

Good catch Speedy...I meant to put it at Fine- (5.5). I'm still learning to match the number grading to their corresponding letter (or words) +/- . I usually double check myself when it comes to this but the main site is running slow for me. Also, that is a gouge by the 'M' not a tear (doesn't go through). It does look nasty in the scan though :sick: and that large crease (upper right) looks worse in the scan also. Apparently even a 5.5 on this book was to generous.

Back to the drawing board (but that's why I'm here...to learn this stuff). Thanks.

7.5 for real? It looks a bit beat up for a VF-. Some creases on both right corners, and is that a tear by the 'M' in Marvel?

Picked these up in a lot entitled "VINTAGE COMICS: mixed, Warlock! NR" for $5.51 total (about $1.84 each) :D

The Marvel Premier #1 is in great shape (I have it as a 7.5 but it might be higher) and the whites on the Flash #140 are very bright (the FF #56 is eh, so-so).

These were in a lot of 4 comics listed as "Marvel Bundle Featuring Rare 'Roast' Issue". The bundle included these two along with The Spectacular Spider-Man #147 and Fantastic Four Roast #1. I paid $3.00 for the bundle making each one of these $0.75 each. :D

I only recently (just over a year ago) got back into collecting comics. Unfortunately I made the decision to sell my old stuff only months before deciding to collect again. I started buying lots of moderns (real newer stuff), but now have focused most on back issues. Nothing in particular, instead, a wide range of various comics. I'm still trying to get a feel for what I like.

Tell me what you think.
If it's in a picture, I probably have it scanned so let me know if you want to see something closer.
