I only recently (just over a year ago) got back into collecting comics. Unfortunately I made the decision to sell my old stuff only months before deciding to collect again. I started buying lots of moderns (real newer stuff), but now have focused most on back issues. Nothing in particular, instead, a wide range of various comics. I'm still trying to get a feel for what I like.

After joining CPG and not posting much on the boards, I decided to start a thread about my collection and continuous hunts, I'll probably start posting pics of my current collection as-is, and add more with new purchases.

Right now I collect primarily Spider-Man and some Deadpool, but also own some classic EC Horror Comic reprints, and hope to eventually get some original EC Horror goodness.

I picked up this flyer at Jesse jame's houses in st joseph missouri

okay I started collecting in 1983 and got my first job at the friendly neighborhood comic book store in las vegas. I was paid in comics, bags and boards. When I moved off to arizona my punk idiot nephew sold my collection for drugs. It took my about 5 years to get back into it.

up to last year I collected all #1's (2) each one for trade and more of a Avengers fan, Green lantern, and golden age collector. But because of cost have cut my purchase for new product in half. Like Pep I get all my back issues from the 5 half price books in my neighborhood. Seattle area.

I really like collecting and enjoy my free time when I'm on the cpg forum. i don't really stroll the other sights, and like the group of people on here.

Okay so this is my little blog. so i hope you like what I write if not well it could be worse you could be alone on saturday night reading your mint copy of NFL SUPER PRO!!

Yet another new guy thread, but like most people, I want to be a part of something larger. Why not start my own threat? The best part is that even if I'm the only one that looks, I can have a cool conversation with myself, or something like that...;)

I've been picking up some Batman comics recently and have started moving into other DC titles. I have wondered into Harley Quinn and Birds of Prey too. As a result, I got this off of Ebay this weekend to compliment the Batman Harly Quinn that I bought last week.

The first comic appearance of Harley Quinn. As opposed to the first appearance of Harley Quinn in the standard DC universe which was the Batman Harley Quinn book that I got last week.

I also ordered Harley Quinn 10, 17,18 and 19 from my comicshop.com. I'm just missing the last issue now (38). I liked the series best when Kessel was writing and Dodson did the art.

Lost Spiderman Series (circa 1990) #1-#54

I am new to CPG and this is my first forum post. I'm putting about 90% of my comic collection out to bid and came across a Spiderman series that came out in 1990. I collected issues 1-54. CPG does not have a listing of this series that I have been able to find, so I though I would throw a topic out to the masses.

So, I've been collecting comics for about three years now. It was something my dad and boyfriend at the time got me into, and I haven't been able to shake the hobby. Up until recently, though, I've just been picking up current issues. I decided I wanted to start looking for some of the older books via antique stores, hpb and garage sales.

I'm visiting my grandparents for the weekend and we took a trip to one of the stores here and this is what I picked up:

Not sure how everyone feels about Harvey comics, but I really like them. I got Sad Sack 205 and Spooky 152 for a total of $6. Considering the shape they're in, I don't think I did too bad.

I scored four National Lampoon Magazines 1971-1973. I was way too young to appreciate these when they came out but I couldn't help myself when I saw them at the thrift store for only .99 cents each.

The cover with the dog on the front is a very familiar image...otherwise these are foreign to me. But I like!:D

There are illustrations, comics, stories and photos throughout each book; lots of humor. I checked CPG, it seems National Lampoon Magazine doesn't appear to fit comic book definition. I would have thought it would file under independants, like Heavy Metal Magazine.

Anyone know where I could price these?

I found these 2 in a 3 for a dollar bin at a comic shop near my parents house on my trip.

Like many of you before me, I too once had a topic started about my bargain bin purchases. That topic has come and gone. This is now the home for such said buys.

For starters..... I took a break from work last night and headed to my LCS. I haven't really been there in sometime. But I met one of the guys that works there one night at the local Wal-Mart. Him and I are pretty good friends/mates/what-have-you. He told me that the store just recently started buying and selling back issues again. They haven't been doing this since I can't remember when. So I decided to go and check it out.

I must say, I was pretty disappointed with their current selection of back issues. They only had about a short box and a half of inventory to browse through. However, the prices were pretty good. They were selling stuff for either $1 or $5. Nothing higher than that. Nothing lower either. Didn't really find anything that struck my fancy. I opted for some of their newer bargain books instead.

They usually have a pretty good selection of their newer stuff on sale for $1/each. They are all in pretty good condition. Mainly everything is in VF/NM, and they are all bagged/boarded. Even though they normally sell them for $1/each, they were having a sale on these. They were down to $.50/each. Not much to rummage through here either. There were only a couple of long boxes left, and nothing really mainstream. I still went ahead and picked up a few things. I mean......they were only $.50/each, and I felt like I was doing my part to help the cause.

Now, I know I'm not in league with the Big Boys here just yet; but having my own thread for is also good for ME tracking my back issue purchases.
Normally I go to the LCS to get my stuff, as I am paranoid of writing an E-Bay Horror Story of my own.
But I got these from CraigsList from a young guy that lives across town from me. That way I could inspect them, and he got paid cash.
I got 24 comic books + 2 Ashcans for $25.
Except for the Avengers one, they are all in about 8.5-9.2 condition. This guy must've bought them new, read them, and bagged them, and maybe read them again.

For those interested in the cost, all three were 65% off at a local store sale today ($20 for the #14 and $10 each for the other two).

I'm still after a #40 (Origin of The Guardians) in decent condition for less than $150, but everything cheaper looks terrible. Beaten and tattered like you wouldn't believe.

No "box o' gems for $1 each" miracles so far this weekend, but how's that anything new? ;)

My World, My Comics

Well basically here's a little info about me. I'm an aspiring screenwriter who recently started collecting comics again.

Well as a screenwriter, I was in need of a place where I could be comfortable in enough so that I could write and relax and just enjoy myself.

So what did I do? I turned my garage into a room I could love. Now I know there's already a thread to show off your room pics, but this is more than room pics. This is a place where I can post pictures of how I fixed up the garage, the comics I love and have bought, and maybe even the people I've met along the way.

Well here it goes people. A look into my world.

Normally, I don't come across much around here (down to one little lcs in a hundred miles). Today however was a good day and I decided to start my own thread whether anybody looks or not. It was my lcs 5th anniversary so they have a big sale. Of course, the exact same day when I've about blown my budget for books I come across a garage sale with a bunch of long boxes marked at various prices too. 1 for a buck or 6 for $5, or $.50 cent box. He also had $2, and $5 boxes too. Here's a list of what I grabbed for $30 bucks. (he also gave me his number and stated I could call and go back later for more). First up the garage sale buys.

I've been inventorying my collection for about two months now and I finally got to a box of comics I inherited from my brother-in-law about 20 years ago. He picked up about 500 comics over a span of six months before he passed away. Almost all of them are reader copies. Anyway, I had not looked through the box until a couple of days ago and, lo and behold, I came across a copy of Avengers 164. No big deal. I began to enter it into the CPG database and saw that it had a variant issue, one of the .35 issues Marvel tried out. Okay, I looked at my issue and to my amazement, it was a .35 issue. I thought these .35 issues were a myth because I had never seen one. Now I possess one. I think it is about a 4.5 but my scan isn't that great. I didn't do a great job of cropping it. I've posted a copy on photobucket and will attempt to insert it in this post. If it doesn't work, I'm sure one of you will let me know how.

Help me find Wolverine #1 and #2 on the website. It is the "Monthly Series" done in 1988 where he is standing on a lot of bodies in the first one and an up close shot with claws on the second. I've looked everywhere. Sorry I'm sure it's something easy and I am a noob on this site. Thanks for any help.
