From what I saw when it came out, a friend of mine bought all the variants. The 1 in 30's went for 29.99, the Dodson 1 in 200 went for $150.00 and the Turner 1 in 200 went for $200.00.

Yeah im not too sure about the ape $hit. lol Not real crazy about them. Maybe one or two of them, but if they have one for 10 different titles and for 10 books in a row then no. but knowing Marvel then there will be a hundred million covers.

I love that cover. And I will surely miss him and his art. His first stuff that I remember going and buying just for his art was his cover on Teen Titans 1, and all the Superman, Superman/Batman stuff he did.

It is amazing to see the sketch and the colored, and see how much of his art is covered up by inks, a lot of definition is lost in the process unfortunately.

Yeah I agree with the skrull variants. I actually liked those at first because they weren't announced so several copies snuck by people because they weren't expecting them. Towards the end though they began announcing them, and it made them much much less appealing. I picked up the ones relating to the x-books, and that was it. I do prefer sketch covers or new covers entirely though over simple skrull styled repaints. As for the Marvel apes junk... as dumb of a concept as it is, I'll pick up the X-bbox variant again due to my completionist mentality. But, as far as purchasing any of the Marvel apes books or anything like that, I'll stay far FAR away from those.

Yeah I wish I got the sketch cover but it was just the color copy. I think in the near future im going to try and see if I can grab a copy of the sketch cover, but thats it. All these variants are getting very rediculas. you have to got to your LCS with close to $100 if you want to get your pulls and any other variants/back issues. And Im sick of all these Skrull Variants, its just the same as all of the Zombie variants. Did anybody else hate those as well. Im surprised they didnt have a superpro zombie variant. lol, superpro..... whew....

My hope is that this turns out to be similar to the giant sized AStonishing X-men inked variant. That was a 1:100 variant and held prices near $100 for the week prior to it's release then a few days later, however slowly but surely after that first week prices dropped to the point that I got my copy with shipping for $14 only 2 weeks after it came out. I can only hope prices for these 1:200 variants slowly but surely trickle down in price untill I can find a copy for closer to $40. Either way I'm a bit annoyed that they decided to do this many variant covers at the same time as a multiple variant issue of astonishing x-men #25 as well. I've been having a hard enough time trying to keep those variants straight let alone all these new ones for issue 500 of uncanny. My plus so far though is that I have the 4 main variants for Uncanny already taken care of as I said eralier, so I can focus on the harder sketch and internet versions now, and even better, I picked up todays Bermejo Astonishing X-men 25 variant for cover price, and should have a sketch variant from comic con on it's way for only $7 this weekend.

I agree with you StarWarsEd. I am huge turner fan, and my issues certainly aren't going for sale. The one extra copy I had, the reg turner variant, I bought online to make sure I could get it. I already sold it for the $30 I paid for it.

I am not out to turn a profit on this, they just go into my Uncanny run, which I am trying to build up (those 1-50 issues are a pain in the rear). So I really wanted that Turner sketch, and was pretty appalled at the 1-200. One store online sold them for $80, that was cheapest I saw. I had to buy mine online for the $90. They are well over 2-250 on ebay already. =/ Your average person cant get a hold of these.

And then I get raving about Wizard. $500 for one of those? Go to hell. They even upped their prices on all of the turner covers a day after he passed away. I had them bookmarked and couldn't believe it.

Personally, its not the seven covers that bother me. Its the fact that 2 of them require a blood sacrifice to get a copy.

There have been comics in the past with a multitude of covers ( X-men vol2 #1 for example), but I don't recall any with a 1 in 200 ratio, let alone 2 with that ratio for a single book.

Why couldn't they just lower the ratio? Tons of people will want to buy one, a lower ratio would just allow more folks to get one. And I can't believe I'm saying this, but 1 in 75 would have been so much more obtainable for the average comic shop and collector( I know, I know, I just supported a 1 in 75 ratio /sigh )

If the ratio were lower, it would all more retails to reap the rewards. It is called the RRP, Retailer Rewards Program after all. But as it is, only mega shops, or shops willing to risk buying a severe excess of the standard cover will get one. Does this feel like the Civil War variants to anyone else? Seriously 1 in 200 is beyond ridiculous.

I walked into the store (Midtown Comics) fixin' to buy at least one of the regular covers. It's an historic issue of a comic I used to dig. Up at all the cash registers they had nothing but the various covers featured. Behind the counter they had the two "regular variants" for $35 each and the non-Turner sketch one for lord knows how much. Over in the X-Men section of the wall (there's so many X-Men/Wolverine comics, they pretty much have their own nook), the various covers were again all over the place. It wound up annoying me, such a blatant money grab; I mean, seven freaking covers??? So I didn't get any. My own baby boycott.

I want that Astonishing #25 as well. A few places online still have it for reasonable prices.

I want the Dodson sketch, but it has to wait, I've spent too much the past few weeks as it is. And you are probably right, I am betting he got the 1:30 variant for $60.

Getting the 1:200 sketch for that price would be a steal. Someone told me these are the rarest covers Marvel has done in some 10 years, is that true?

My interpretation of Fathoms post was that he got the color copy for $60, not the sketch, but maybe (hopefully) I'm wrong. Me personaly I picked up both of the regular covers obviously, and then got both the regular Dodson and Turner variants together for $40 total. Not my best deal, but it was ok enough for me to pick them up anyways. I also ended up getting the astonishing x-men 25 variant that came out as well, so it was just a variant day all around. Now I need to work on the other few Astonishing x-men 25 variants and then of course these #500 sketch variants and I'll be set.

Used to be a member on the old forum, never started up my acct here.

Anyhow, at $60 that is a steal. I was happy getting one from a e-store for $90. The ebay prices are already ungodly. I got the other 4 covers for $60.

All I am missing is the Dodson sketch, which doesn't really interest me that much. Being an Uncanny completist is a pain in the rear.

Did anyone purchase either of the 1 in 200 covers from their local comic shop? Just curious what they cost you.

I got a great deal on the 1 in 30 covers today from my local shop, but they didn't have a large enough order for the sketch covers. Still glad to pick up both of the 1 in 30 covers for a total of 24.50. So once my DF variant gets here I'll have 5 out of the 7, and sadly won't see the other 2 for quite awhile.

I've never been a huge michael turner fan, bu I love this cover... this should have been the standard cover hands down over th Ross or Land version.

This image was created years ago by Ross and was featured in an old Wizard Magazine from a few years back. So unless Ross created it years ago, and is now trying to use it as a cover image for X-men 500, I'm thinking this was never a design possiblity for X-men #500.[/quote]

Depending on the ratio I may get a decent deal from my LCS and then I may not. If it's a 1:50 ratio for any cover then I'm looking at $40-50 for a single issue... if it's a 1:20 or less though then I should be able to get each one for around $15.
