Whose biggest? How complete is you collection?

This thread will contine the 'Who has the biggest collection' thread from the old CPG forums. This thread was started way back in 2003 by Clyfft and ChickenDevil. In good old Marvel fashion the thread is in it's third reboot. The old thread was maintained by Clyfft for a number of years and was later adopted by Sensatj. In 2007 Ruk also started to add tables for collection value.

It's a bit of fun, don't take it seriously. It's supposed to be more about letting us know about the growth of your collection and less about bragging.

You are not supposed to count doubles - a few are ok but it's supposed to be about about personal collections not dealer stock. There are almost 700,000 comics in the CPG database. How many of them do you have?

Aria Press was started by Collen Doran, the creator and artist of the title. Originally published by Warp, some sort of falling out occurred, and Doran chose to self-publish the story. This was a relaunch of the story, and not just a continuation from the Warp Graphics series.

Doran started self-publishing in 1991, and in 1996, Image comics began publishing the title.

There have been a number of tpbs issued of the various books, and series from the other publishers under the Image banner.

Collen Doran has not limited herself to the Distant Soil title. She has also done work on a number of different projects and publishers. These include Book of Lost Souls from Marvel, and Orbiter from DC/Vertigo. The Library of Graphic Novelists has even published a volume featuring her.

The CPG database currently lists 1 title with 19 issues (including multiple printings). It is thought at least 2 trade paperbacks exist that were released under the Aria Press banner, however I have not found concrete evidence of this.

Vertigo Imprint Collections

I don't know if anyone else on the board is interested but I am an avid collector of all things Vertigo. I know, I know, these are all DC books, but any imprint that has lasted this long deserves some love. So please jump in and post how many you have.

Just a point of clarification before I post my counts. As I'm sure you know, several of the original Vertigo titles started out as DC only books (no Vertigo). So how does one count a series like Hellblazer? 199 Vertigo issues and 62 Pre-Vertigo issues. So for the sake of simplicity, I'll update 2 counts - Vertigo and a much higher number including the Pre-Vertigo DC's from series that became Vertigo books. Included in this 2nd count will also be the early issues of Transmetropolitan that launched as a DC/Helix book.

Vertigo Books = 941

Vertigo + DC originals = 1,100

Hopefully others will join in and we can discuss and share books from this fantastic collection of work.
