Well that depends on if you're a completist or not. If you want to have a full run, then you keep buying otherwise it's a bit tough to say. The current issue of Batman was much better than RIP although I wasn't crazy about the current issue of Detective. I'm looking forward to the Neil Gaiman two parter and then both series are going on hiatus while they do the Battle for the Cowl. I'm trying to decide if I'm going to bother with that or just pick up with Batman and 'Tec when they resume.

I don't know if I'd go all the way to awesome but this was a much better read. It had the required amount of Morrison craziness in it where it wasn't all clear exactly what was going on all the time and I know I didn't "get" all the references that were made, but it was good and you're 100% right on Morrison. I don't care if he throws in his usual craziness but add that to a good story instead of crazy just for crazy's sake and then everyone can be satisfied.

To me, Detective has been a much better read. Until this last 5 issue arc, most of the stories are done in one or two issues but there are things going on that tie the issues together so there is flow to them.

It will be interesting to see if Morrison comes back to Batman. I know that was the original plan, but I've been reading that may be changing now.

Hmm read it on the weekend and the payoff sucked. After slugging my way through the last year of this title and half the time not understanding what was going on this was the finale? I definitely have to agree that I'm a fan of linear storytelling in comic books. Don't make me work for it or expect me to remember small details from an issue that came out months ago. It seems like everything is written with a mind for making into a trade publication without a care for the monthly title collectors.

I was hoping this would wrap up and things would get normalish for a while. Maybe not going to happen. I might start picking up Detective Comics if its better that way in 2 to 3 issue arcs that make sense throughout.

Totally agree with you on the superhero front...I am enjoying Daredevil (the entire framing Matt Murdock every arc is getting old), Captain America (the end of the darn Red Skull storyline has finally come), and JSA (that darn storyline lasted way too long as well) - these are some of the few I still purchase.

Fables, Northlanders, Sgt Rock, Criminal, and Zorro have been great reads though.

Well..to be Honest..it isn't just Morrison......every Mainstream title, rather it be a solo book or a major event book, isn;t delivering.

Only one I can think of is Green lantern.

Between DC and Marvel right now, theres just some really shitty books out, no matter how good the writers are that are working on them. They just need FREEDOM, and these companies aren't giving it to them.

Shocking that a lot of the great books are pretty much coming out of Image these days...

Told ya so - Morrison is horrible and I am glad I stopped buying this stuff before it happened. :P

The only bat book I buy anymore is Detective - and that RIP storyline was nothing special.

It's sort of funny in a way. Back 10 years ago when I stopped reading and collecting comics, the big complaints were all the major events tying into multiple titles and all the crazy covers (die cut, hologram, etc.). Now I'm back and the same issues are around though with the covers, now it's variants as opposed to "gimmick" covers. Thankfully I didn't let myself get sucked into all the crossover mess this time around and I only need one cover of an issue so I can pass on the multiple covers. If only I did that back then *L*

I have to wonder now about the final fate of the Batman that is to be revealed in Final Crisis. Are they going to actually let that story play out in there or is it going to be like the death of Martian Manhunter and the fate is given in one panel or one page and then to get the "real" story we're going to have to buy yet another comic.

I agree about Morrison. I'm not a Morrison fanatic where everything he does is great but I don't automatically hate everything he does either. He can do some very weird things and sometimes I like it and sometimes I don't, but this was just a miss for me. Just one example: Damien (Batman's son)is driving the Batmobile (he can't be 17, so why is he driving and Alfred a passenger?) and runs an ambulance off of a bridge and nothing is done or said about it. Yes, the ambulance was being driven by the Joker, but no one knew that. Nothing is done or said about it and even Alfred barely mentions it. Just...bad.

As for Batman dying, the casebook had to have been written after the explosion, so he couldn't be dead because some of the things in the casebook (the lined handwritten pages) were things only Bruce Wayne would know.

And I don't see what the monumental reveal was that was supposed to change Batman or make him give up being Batman. Dr. Hurt claimed to be his father but Batman immediately knocked that aside without ahint of doubt. Besides the fact that I would hate that horrible bit of recon if it were true, since Batman doesn't believe it, there is no reason for him to give up being Batman because of it.[/quote]

But yeah, I'm so sick of comics now days promising these big reveals and they ALL end with this type of crap. Yet we all continue to fall for it...

I was totally disappointed with the issue...a lot of examples of bad writing in there, and just poorly done...almost seemed like a rush job.

Batman isn't dead though. His final fate will be revealed in Final Crisis and Morrison has stated in interviews that the Batman in FC is Bruce Wayne, just perhaps not as we know him.

Yeah, I mean....WTH?!?

I totally was reading this book, thinking is was the best by far so far. It was all coming together, everything was being answered..then BAM !...last few pages, just lost me...

I mean, I understood the whole story so far minus a few detials from the start of the storyline, but the ending was just BAD.

Someone explain it to me, please..cause...wow....it wasn't a good ending, at all..

I don't get it...is he dead or what? I mean, if you go by the last couple of pages, it looks like he was on the front of that 'Copter and it went nose first into the ground..and BOOM!

So he's either gone and Morrison is the biggest SOB on the planet, or it ain't over yet...
