I think I read in one of Steve Wacker's interviews that Mephisto doesn't have anything to do with the whole not being able to see his face thing, but that we'll find out about that at some point.

AFAIK, all that Mephisto was responsible for was erasing the marriage.

I didn't mind the Harry not wanting to look thing so much. I think Harry has a pretty good idea who's under the mask, but maybe doesn't want to confirm it.

That's an excellent point. I mean Peter is Harry's "better" brother in a way. I mean the affection the Norman heaped on Peter really bothered Harry. So why not take all that hate out on Pete's Spidey persona? Then he's free to love Peter to death. It sounds crazy, but Harry IS crazy.

PS I thought that no one could see Spidey's face is he's unmasked, like what happened between he and Johnny Storm. Isn't Pete magically protected by Mephisto?

I didn't mind the Harry not wanting to look thing so much. I think Harry has a pretty good idea who's under the mask, but maybe doesn't want to confirm it.

I felt Amazing # 600 was just "ok". I don't like Slott's dialogue in the book, it just doesn't fit the characters I'm not sure how to explain it but maybe it's because I've been reading spider-man monthly since Amazing #400 and have read every issue...

The only mini-stories I liked was the Stan Lee one which was surprising because his old-school writing just doesn't work anymore but this one was actually really funny.

Does anyone else not like that Harry's ex's baby is Norman's? It just seems like a repeat with the Gwen Stacey having kids with Norman. By the way I never read those stories on Spectacular. Did Norman force Gwen to sleep with him or was she willing... ?

i liked #600 as well. I thought the covers at the end where super cool! also the story of peter wanting uncle ben's acceptance it thought that was really neat. it's good to see that other people enjoyed it as well! :)

Well I just read all of #600 - I'm on board for the foreseeable future. From start to finish, a lot of things've changed since I've read - But I've caught myself up.

I liked the "Covers of ASM you'll never see" portions, as well as the mini-stories too. My favourite mini-story was the one of Peter as a boy, and told from Ben's perspective, that he's not the father Peter's dad was. When he was too focused on "your dad would be proud of you" when Peter just wanted BEN'S acceptance. I loved that.

Plus, the last story in the book intrigue's me about Spider-Man, and I'm curious to see how this whole "getting to 're-know' you" thing with MJ works out as well.

They did a great job, and I'm back on board again. :)

How you doing my friend? What's shakin' in your world?

I have never really been a die-hard Spidey fan, maybe that's why I don't have much to compare the current storyline with. I kinda wandered in and out of collecting Spidey in my youth. It's cool of you to give such a great review because you helped me to see holes in the plot that I didn't see before. I kinda got caught up in the whole crescendo of the story arc and let the loose pieces of the story flap in the wind.

Let me clarify, I LOVED the feeling that ASM #599 gave me, it was like getting the guitar solo in Metallica's "Fade to Black." Everything came together...the action, the dialogue, everything rose to a blaring frenzy...it was just so kinetic!! Then there's a nice exhalation towards the end with the resolution of everything, but wait! There's a sharp gasp when the Doc asks Harry if he needs those addictive drugs! It was like a roller coaster (izzat one word?)!

I bought into the fact that Pete's face couldn't be seen because I thought that no one could see his face even if he was unmasked because of his deal with Mephisto. Even the FF4 couldn't see his face when he was unmasked as few issues ago. Now civil rights and masks...you got me brother! LOL!!

I feening for #600! If the writing and art continues like this, I'm gonna be a REAL Spidey fan...like Spideyfan! LOL!!

The art has been way way better since JRJR did his mailing it in thing on the brand new ways to die arc. I couldn't believe how many fan boys were saying it was so great. It was half finished and didn't have any heart in it to me.

Well after reading many of the positive reviews on ASM, I'm willing to give the book another try.

I read it back in 2001-2003 or so, and enjoyed it then.

Tried to get back into it around #590, and thought it was garbage. But I'm going to pick up #600 tomorrow and see if they can't hook me back in.

I agree. i got out of ASM once BND came. but this arc got me back into it. i liked the arc a lot. it was surprising the out come of it. first i think it would be interesting if harry learned pete's identity. also i wish he stayed on as american son. that would have been cool!!!.

Yeah, the annual was absolutely hilarious... although scary as well as the "clone" debaucle seems to be making a comeback.

All those OMD haters should actually take a few minutes, read a recent issue of ASM, and get over it. This series is the best is been in years.

I mean, really?!! I just read ASM Annual #36 and it was good too!! What I really love about the direction that Spidey's going is...he's actually funny again! I find myself laughing out loud at the funny stuff that bounces out of his mouth. The way that Pete messes with Jonah, just everything is great. He called a supervillian that was trying to kill him "Stabby McStabs-A-Lot!" ROFLMAO!!! I think I'm hooked.

Well they got out of that with the old super suit that can stop a bullet and apparently anything that Bullseye could throw at it for half a day. Was a bit of a cop out that he just busted out there. Interesting that its not Harry's baby. That's fine by me. The Lilly Hollister/Menace character can just go as far as I'm concerned.

But I kinda like the fact that Harry's not curling into a psychological ball on this one. He's making stuff happen; although, it sucks big-time that he betrayed Spidey. Man, Spidey got manhandled didn't he? AND SHOT?! SHOT?!! WTF?!!

How's the wallcrawler gonna get outta this one? I think that his secret identity is on the line. Maybe if Harry sees that it's Peter he'll have a change of heart...or maybe he'll hate him. You never can tell with Harry.

Gotta be Harry since hes' the "son" of the Iron Patriot. Pretty sure it will be. ASM has gotten better the past few months, I'll give it that. I actually am looking forward to reading it again. The art has been much better and the pieces seem to have fallen decently. The upcoming wedding of Aunt May and JJJ Sr. is kind of unnecessary but I'm on for the ride.

Hmmm. Sinister Spider-Man sounds interesting! I'm gonna cop that one. I'm with you, Dark Reign and the Skrull Invasion didn't catch me. The only big events that I liked were The Korvac Saga (I get light-headed just thinking about it), Fall of the Mutants, DC's the AWESOME Crisis on Infinite Earths and of course, Blackest Night. That's it.

I think that you are right. He was too concerned about Harry. Osborne probably nows exactly who he is now...or has some clue. He might start striking out at Harry's friends covertly in hopes of killing Spidey. This'll probably end up in the death of JJ's father somehow. Spidey's about to feel the burn.

I can see him maybe becoming the "American Son", but then trying to topple Norman's empire from the inside. Well, I think with this current arc, that Spidey is going to be drawn into Dark Reign big time. I haven't read any of the related titles up to this point, so I'm not up to speed on the whole Dark Reign thing (but I'll probably pick up Mr. Negative & Sinister Spider-Man). I think Marvel took some heat over the whole Flash in Iraq thing though, so maybe they're trying to steer clear for a while.

How do you think that it will work out murch? I don't know if I like it. I'd like to see Flash Thompson finally become a super-hero. He's really changed and he deserves it.

Hey Gilight!!

How are you? I think that you're right, May's getting married in 600...but I can do without more of her love scenes, LOL!! I keep seeing posters and ads showing Spidey getting his butt kicked by Norman Osborn. I never like to see Spidey eat it...but something big is coming and if it goes the way everything else in Dark Reign is going, Spidey may end up being crippled or something.

I do not like this Dark Reign. It feels weird, and ASM is one of the few titles where the focus is not really on Dark Reign. Spidey's focus is really on the craziness that his life has become after Brand New Day. The writing is light and funny, the adventures quick, cool, and well drawn...it's a breath of fresh air in the midst of all this Dark Reign stuff. I'd hate to lose that.

It's not a new series, just a story arc in ASM.

I'm smelling what you're cooking. I hated One More Day too, but I think that the ASM wrinig has gotten better since. I even find myself chuckling at Spidey's jokes a lot. I think maybe the fact that Flash never discovered Peter's secret identity while they both worked at Midtown High had a lot to do with his re-joining the Army and fighting in Iraq. Remember, Spidey's identity is unknown by everyone, even the Fantastic Four (until last month). I guess it's like real life...every small change could lead to a bigger change, like a domino effect. I don't think that Pete thought about this, and I think that we're really about to start seeing the consequences of his decisions.

He lost his legs. I think that makes him more of a candidate. He gets his mobility back, and he gets to continue serving his country. What better person to set at odds with Peter Parker, than his childhood enemy turned friend? Who better to set at odds with Spider-Man than his biggest fanboy? Not to mention the tension that this could cause with Captain America. This will be great!!
