So, I gave up on comics in about '87, just the growing up syndrome I guess. I have a few coworkers at my current job who still avidly collect comics, and talking to them has resparked my interest. I got my old comics out of my folks' attic and started buying back issues of the Flash to try to complete the run. And in re-reading them, I kinda got back into it. I've since re-read the Alan Moore Swamp Thing's that I have and his Miracle Mans too.
Anyway...I'm wondering if there are any good comics out there these days? I figure y'all will say "YES!!!," right? So can you make a few suggestions? I've noticed that new issues are crazy expensive these days so I'll not be rushing into too many current series, but if there's one or two or three that really stand out, pass along the info.
Thanks for the assist. Hopefully I'm not stepping into a money pit here.

| No money pit.....you can buy trades as they're cheaper. Walking Dead is a terrific read, Kirkman is a great writer. You may also want to check out Y the Last Man....also very good. I also enjoy Gamekeeper (from Virgin comics, only about 10 issues in 2 volumes so far). I'm afraid I can't help with DC books or even Marvel, as I pretty much just read smaller publishers. Catch up on Moore's stuff you missed during your break. You can get used trades cheaper, and you'll have hours of good reading ahead of you! Oh, and there is quite a bit of Kirkman out there, too, in DC I think.

| dont worry about price lots of good stuff in the bargain bins ,once you get into one writer you can start looking out for his stuff if you like alan Moore you will probably like Warren Ellis and Garth Ennis

| I agree with the others so far. Give The Walking Dead a try (IMO best book out there). Go for the trades and save money. You might also try your local library for the TPBs. This is how I first got into The Walking Dead. They're not yours to keep but you can read them (or other trades also) for free and see if you might like to own them or even start looking for the back issues of the regular comics.
